ever since we learned the hiss was going to be re-released with non movable treads, i've contemplated making my own rolling chassis.
last weekend i finally got around to getting in the basics into autocad and will be detailing to to match the stock plastic as close as possible. i'm talking to a source i know that has access to a 4axis mill about the feasibility of making this. it would consist of a base that snaps into the shell just as the plastic does with free rolling wheels, preferably with ball bearings. i can tell you right now that the wheels alone will cost about $50 if milled to near exact replica detail. i don't even have a ballpark figure yet for the rest of it. i'm committed to making at least one of these for myself. once the 3d model is completed however, it's a simple matter of porting it to a mill capable of doing the work and could be done by virtually anyone, anywhere. is there any interest from others in a 'masterpiece' level upgrade? hell, if i can put more time into it and some help with tank rc enthusiasts, i could just as easily design rc capability into it. god knows there is enough dead space in there. use 2.4/spektrum electronics and no visible antenna is needed either.

yes, i've seen that. it's inspirational to see however i'm aiming for near exact replica detail vs. kit bash.
