Before I start, let me introduce to you our new custom group:
Syndicate of Hungarian Custom Makers: final circle version by America Capitan, on Flickr We are a small Hungarian customizer group specifing on different "1/18th" or "3 and 3/4 inch" figure custom making. We are trying to use as much creative technique as posssible to solve and aprroach different executions, so our customs can develop each time when we doing something new. Also we are always opened for new things and ready to help out fellow collectors and hobby lovers if we can 🙂 Here are our facebook link where you can check out our custom works: https://www.facebook.com/Syndicate-o...1039921033668/ If you remember, long time ago I did a cardboard truck from a Shoebox http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...hunmarine.html So I get back to the idea, how can I develop the technique and building methods/process...so I choosed a simple model, made by great papercraft designer Rawen at the scale of 1/43: TATRA SOT guntruck. I"ve built up the original model out of paper..here: 47580439_457467104659471_7580234497069678592_n by America Capitan, on Flickr 47679700_296811024308237_8510385127593869312_n by America Capitan, on Flickr 47681245_345055796044785_8679431235023405056_n by America Capitan, on Flickr Than I decided to scale it up nearly to 1/18 and make it Joe compatible. That looks fantastic. I bought a paper model to upsize and then make it out of styrene. Still haven't done any of it. Great work!!

This is amazing. So you guys design these on the computer using some graphics program and then print and glue to stiffer cardboard?

Oh, and guys, you have to go check out their facebook page linked in HunMarine's sig. There is too much awesomeness to mention. There is a Covergirl made from a Valkyrie which is cool enough, but she has a soft goods jacket that is just amazing. I didn't even notice it was soft goods at first because whatever it is made of drapes just perfectly. Most soft goods at 1:18 are too thick and stiff for that scale, but this is just spot on. We need a tutorial on that.

No...we are a small group of customizers. Each of us has its own style and way of custom making. The cardboard stuff - is mine priority and fun I"ve found a real paper model on the net (there are many free models) made by artist named Rawen. I took every detail and scaled it up so it is Joe compatible (it was enough to scale up 1 detail correct to the figure, so every other part was scaled by it) There are programs which can do it fast enough, but I don"t own it....so I used paint, MSword and a and cheap ruler for that ..."Oldy" approach but as you can see - it works well ;) Than I use a drawing paper which is actually a thin white cardboard. A take this thin cardboard into the printer and print right on it. The last step is just cut/fold/glue...thats all About Cover Girl: Its not soft goods my friend. Her coat was made out of crepe paper Its one of those new approaches and new materials that can be used for such stuff. Here is the original thread about her: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...hunmarine.html
