Devilfish
Fast Attack Boat The cover of Marvel's GI Joe Issue #47 is one of the greatest of the entire run. I remember the first time reading it when I was 10 years old, and not just for the dramatic turns the story takes. The cover just always struck me. Wanting to do a custom homage to this cover has been on my list of things to do for a long time, and it's finally complete, with a custom version of Beach Head, Hawk, Wet-Suit and the Devilfish. The main thing about this custom is that the missiles were relocated to where they were on the pre-production version of the toy, as you can see on the back of the Devilfish box, and indeed on the cover of #47. It was surprisingly easy – just cut of the tabs, and then cut some slits in the appropriate places on the sides. Since the tabs are already tapered, you can just push them into the slits from the bottom, and they stay in place with friction. All parts and accessories - Devilfish |

Very nice! That's something I always wanted to do to my Devilfish as a kid.
Back then, I didn't understand the concept of pre-production samples and stuff so I always hated it when the toy looked a lot different than the one shown on the box. The Devilfish was one of those.

Very nice...
I never noticed the preproduction versions on the backside of the packaging until I was an adult.

Ha! Yes! Indeed one of the best covers of the series. And if I recall correctly, I think this issue had a TV commercial associated with it. It probably introduced the 86 wave of figures too. Great job on the customization!
