Just a little question, what do you do to avoid paint rub?

Shaving down the shoulders was done real late in the process, after having painted the shirt and adding the shoulder decals from ebay seller 87spuds—so the shirt painted got dinged up, and don’t really have time for a full matching repaint of the shirt right now. GiJoe_25th_84-00_Spirit_201-0803bb by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr Shirt repainted with much more durable AK Real Colors RC239 Air Superiority Blue FS 35450. Made the man a new bird (but not really a fan of the Joe animals personally). Found a way to get said bird into the photo without shrinking bird nor man too much, and evoke the original card art given the figure articulation restraints. I thought this version of Spirit was awesome since you first shared it. Even tried copying your braids idea for a custom.. Thanks for keeping this thread going.

SHIPWRECK:
A few weeks ago I finally got the five-pack Battle Set version of Shipwreck, likely the last remaining 25th figure I was passively hunting for these days. Shipwreck is displayed front and center in my main Joe display, along with other fan faves in classic flavors. As more and more of the fan faves got upgraded (either with 50th or "Ultimate" versions, or with customs previously posted in this thread), my original 25th Shipwreck was looking increasingly out of place. When I got the figure in hand, as I feared, I really disliked it, moreso because of the price I paid. I've seen the complaints about the lower arms, but from photos (and from my Storm Rider in hand), I had real problems with the torso sculpt--particularly at the joint between the upper and lower halves. I was also not impressed by the head. From site photos, I was lead to believe that the five-pack Shipwreck's head was basically the ROC/50th Shipwreck sculpt, with different hats. However, the five-pack's painting of the eyes and eyebrows don't even come close to the ROC/50th version. I also think that this head looks too big for the body used. I had a plan b, which involved a whole new custom from the ground up, but could never find a loose head or a casting from my usual sellers. I also had plan c, which was plan a, but mainly for the head. For my custom's body, the goal was for a more husky sailorman (!) and to get those guns for arms back from the first 25th version. Now that's Shipwreck! Better build all around. Love the Gung Ho forearms. Gives him more of a Popeye feel.

Man, at first glance I thought you had just tweaked the 5 pack figure with new legs and hands... Then taking the closer look, and seeing your parts thread, I saw that this was not the 5 pack figure at all, with the exception of the head! The side by side of your custom and the 5 pack version is the icing on the cake, showing how much better your figure came out compared with the Hasbro's offering... Kudos on a great job!

Awesome work! Did you use a ROC Zartan torso as the base figure? You could almost just remove the dark camo paint from that torso. Crud, now I'm going to have to see if I have an extra Zartan body.
