I too have the excitement and fear of wave 2 and 3 of the Retro line. Please don't mess it up Hasbro.

My excitement comes from seeing small Joes at Walmart again, in new but familar packaging. My fear is in the figure execution--mostly because I don't know how many Hasbro designers from where they last left off are still on board. It took a few years for them to fine tune the mid-torso joint. Also the t-bar torso to leg joints are a Joe speciality that 3.75 Star Wars designers still can't seem to figure out. And how many guys like Bobby Vala are left that would spend a godly amount of time kitbashing old figures for the sake of finding the best vintage match? Granted, his SDCC Missle Command Cobras had height issues, but I assume was his priority was vintage part matching vs size and proportion (as well as being limited to parts that fit together without tweaking molds), which he did well.

The three figures coming out all have at least one issue each, apparent even before getting the figures in hand--despite all being repackages. Baroness should have come with the SDCC head. SS should have been the Ultimate Retaliation version. Snake Eyes is missing his retro head. New sculpting dollars may have been wasted on a HISS Driver whose original head was fine (one of my favorites still), and legs that look too skinny as you go top to bottom. Maybe I'm nitpicking but we've all had enough time to refine these things by now.

Still, excited...unless the outside scalpers start coming for these as well...

Your stuff looks great as always, HHFF! I hope the upcoming Scarlet is an all new sculpt.. but I’d take the one you’ve built in a heartbeat. I’m also hoping the new Duke has a new torso, one without the turtle neck and with added wings, but I’d be okay with the Flint body as well. I think at this point in my relationship with Hasbro I’m just looking at any new stuff as potential custom fodder.
Fingers crossed for the rest of the concept case Cobras (Officer, Stinger Driver, Televiper, Snow Serpent)

I agree, 25th molds should be banned or sold off to Funskool. There is no reason to use any of the figure molds from before POC (some of the 7 pack stuff holds up, but they are on a similar continuum).

Edit- if these were on the shelf, I would buy the sh!t out of them. I have been preordering the sh!t our of Snake Eyes for example.

So much concurrence here! For the collar, I may be showing lack of knowlege about the steel casts for the molds, but I'd keep thinking there's a way to lower the collar by filling the steel cast somehow. The wings are different since they'd involve cutting into the cast. I could live without them, but for mine I had time, and plenty of 25th Dukes to use. New fodder of newer figures, at retail price! Not even counting the extras stuff from the Chinese ebay sellers! Finally, I could definitely use a concept case Stinger Driver--6 more accurately, so that I can recreate my Cobra O13 in light grey (Cobra Desert fatigues in my collection).

A lot of 25th parts/molds don't hold up today, but a lot still does, as I found out in many figures in this thread. Plus there just isn't enough POC/30th parts (and different MGR parts) to redo a significant number of figures/characters without losing uniqueness and charm. This is what I've been going through in just this last year, and forcing myself to really look at older parts. But agreed on buying shitloads--of these or whatever they release (if scalpers and bots don't beat me to it).

I am honored with the compliments. But as has been said before, these 5 are almost entirely kitbashes, so almost entire credit to the guys working on the line previously (similar with almost all my stuff). These guys were really rolling since POC/30th, and hampered with budget limits during and after Retalitaion (but still getting some winners in that final Retalation wave). Give those guys their jobs back if not done already. I'm more of technical and engineering guy anway, and like my day job. The joe stuff is just release: no pressure with budgets, no time constraints, no management/clients, and learning new fun skills, while playing with action dolls.

But if Hasbro, you are listening: do not be afraid to send me early part samples and paint masters, for free and useful comments. Will keep (not sell) the samples though...
