I think you've done an excellent job on this custom -- except for the legs, which we've already agreed to disagree on that with your WIP. To me, the 25th legs are too skinny and not enough detail (something most 25th figures suffered from -- "smooth sculpts"). Unless you were just wanting to stick with Lady Jaye parts, I would suggest the legs from Snake Eyes v. 44 (2009). They're not as bulky as the Shocktrooper/Steel Brigade legs, but they have a good sculpt of wrinkles and folds. However, they would not be "vintage correct" with the pockets, knife, and pistol. So, it's probably a no-win situation. Otherwise, this figure looks amazing! You did an excellent job on repainting the face. Now it makes me want to search through my 50th Lady Jaye head sculpts and try repainting one myself. Also, thanks for listing the paint colors. I am definitely going to give my custom Lady Jaye a wash in that green color and totally repaint one of the web gear that darker brown. A little off-topic, but am I correct that the vintage ARAH Lady Jaye's power javelin is actually backward? Shouldn't the bigger tip be the front of the gun? Can't wait to see what you do with Flint! Oh man, where to begin here?! Lady Jaye is my favorite Joe-femme. I think it's because she's the only one that looks like an actual real-world female military character.

Jason And I don't know what the deal is with the javelin, never liked it (better not miss!). For my T13, I arm her with the mp5 with scope. It kinda reminds me of the vintage camera she had. Is that weird? |

Finished the test Lady Jaye with the Snake Eyes v44 legs. I hit a snag Saturday after I last checked in. I had forgotten that I needed to lay down my light grey primer when doing lighter final colors. So that added a day to let that dry.
Then when she was all finished, something seemed off. I went back to the interwebs to find pics of that Oktober Guard FSS female figure that was suppose to be the same build (turns out to be Daina which everyone but me probably already knew). I was puzzled that she didn't have big knee pads like mine (??). I realized that I was using the wrong Snake Eyes (50th jacket version), whereas Jason (and DerStahlhelm) meant the Trenchcoat Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes. Oop. As it happens, the legs of the 2 Snake Eyes are the same molds but with different knee parts. And the knees for the Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes allow for a much straighter leg stance. I really like the Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes, and even though I have 2, I didn't want to either sacrificed for fodder. Luckily black is an easy repaint, so I switched the legs (50th to Paris), and now my Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes got some cool knee pads. Sorry for the digression: 2020-03-03_10-22-15 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr Results: -left is the original 50th, included in previous photos. Some cutting and sanding was done at the upper and lower legs near the kneepads to help straighten them out, but probably needs more. -right is the repainted and relegged version. Paint used is AK Real Colors US Interior Yellow Green RC262. Final color may have been warped a little from its out-of-bottle color due to mixing with the white grey Vallejo Primer underneath. The AK paint is just too thick out of the bottle for my purposes, and can't be thinned with water or windex--only alcohol or AK thinner do the trick but then thin/strip the paint layers below. My honeymoon with this paint brand is definitely over, but I will continue to work out the kinks. And in the end, it's the closest and most durable paint/color I've come to the 50th's mold color without mixing tones. -I still prefer the legs of the 25th (middle). But the Snake Eyes legs are preferred over the 50th LJ legs. I like the lower cut boots, less bulk and no knee pads. If I went with this one for final, I probably swap out feet with the 25th figure. And maybe make the wrinkles and folds deeper using steel round file (a technique I've been working on which will be seen in future figure entries). Behind the scenes: -The photo is a composite--look closely for the split right down the middle. Though I have 3 50th Lady Jayes, I only have two heads. The third was sacrificed to use her nice cap for a Stalker custom. I also only have 2 pairs of lower arms (the third going to my T13 Lady Jaye). The middle Lady Jaye pictured uses POC Jungle Duke lower arms (smoothed) for longer length. So the left figure uses that Duke's hands--which don't look too bad on her. -On both the left and right (which use the same head), the head is probably sitting too high. I put some clay in the head socket to sit higher and further back. The low neck which was naturally lurching foward on the original 50th was bugging me, but I probably went too high on the head. The middle figure is similar, but at the height that suits me. Wrap up: Anyway, I wanted to share these for those who are looking to mess with their Lady Jayes (primarily the paint and the legs), and aren't impatiently waiting for my Flint entry (soon). |

Oh man! Those Snake Eyes' legs look great!
I've got the Duke version of those legs (blue/black camo) and am currently working on a Night Force v.2 Lady Jaye using those legs and ROC Cover Girl upper body. Jason |

All three look great! This probably isn’t possible, but I think the best combo would be Snake Eyes leg thighs with 50th Jaye knees and lower legs.

Flint
Warrant Officer Build: Upper and lower torso, legs, head, webgear: 50th Flint (SDCC) Upper arms: FSS Pathfinder Lower arms: 50th Dusty Hands: POC/30th Stalker Paints: Testors Leather, Vallejo Flesh (various, blended) 2020-03-01_10-41-38 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr Notes: --This latest batch of Joe customs started out late 2019 with Tunnel Rat and Flint. Flint really got me rolling since I was very disappointed with the way my original version came out in the photos with Roadblock and Lady Jaye--didn't like the high collar, arms and hands, and small webgear. --If you follow my stuff, you’ll remember my T13 (http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...sfangfang.html). Since I had redone a bunch of my T13 in their classic forms here in this thread previously, and was adding 3 more here with Flint, Tunnel Rat and Lady Jaye, I figured it was time to clean up all my classic versions of my designated T13 figures. 2020-03-01_10-43-18 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr --I might have stated this before, but Flint isn’t really in my top 5 or 6 all-time favorite Joe characters Probably b/c I started with Joes in 82, and feel like he’s redundant when portrayed as a (the?) leader and kinda annoying if considering Larry Hama’s early and wildy different take on the character. But I’ve got to admit that of my T13, and of all the yearly leader figures, Flint has to be best looking original design. I didn’t get the original figure as a kid, but eagerly sought him out when he was re-released in the 2004 Comic Packs (hated the hair on the new head, shaved it down as one of my first “customizing” experiences). Also ended up getting a vintage figure (along with vintage figures of the rest of my T13) around 2010. --Flesh repainted for parts matching. I made him much tanner than Lady Jaye, as I was testing different Vallejo shades and mixing for future use--I’d given up on Testors flesh because those jars keep drying up well before emptying. --Repainted the eyes. All my 50th Flints seem to be checking his right. May have came out overly squinty, much nicely matches the card art, right? (Don’t wanna repaint…) 2020-03-01_10-34-45 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr 2020-03-01_10-37-35 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr --Cut down the ribbed undershirt turtleneck, and painted the remaining Testors Wood to blend better with skin color. No undershirt would be most vintage true, but I decided to play it safe and try to compromise for something less distracting than the full collar. --Swapped out upper arms to match the short-rolled sleeves of the original. I had seen Puglsey do this on his 2015 Flint custom (http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...t-pugsley.html) and really liked the look. Originally had the beefier lower arms from FSS Pathfinder but in the end opted for the smaller arms from the 50th Dusty for better scale to the torso and legs. --Upper arms were swapped without cracking open the torso. These days, I just slice through the inner peg going through the shoulder/arm joint hole, heat and swap. Sometimes there is an issue of arm peg not matching joint hole, but in this instance they matched. 2020-03-26_09-07-26 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr --Went with a lighter brown for belts and other bits matching closer to the original figure, since I had to repaint the hands. --Webgear of 50th Flint was used, but the chest straps were sliced down and sanded for a slightly less bulky look. For years prior I had gone with the smaller/tighter webgear from the 5-pack Flint (V14), thinking it was in better scale to this figure, but thought better of it (especially after the photos with Roadblock). Really, something in middle of the two versions would be perfect, but scaling down the 50th webgear is my best option right now. --I did cut off the knife sheath from the webgear, since it got in the way of the pistol and holster. I’m astounded that jlw515 caught this. 2020-03-26_09-54-22 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr |

Flint may not be in your Top 5, but he is in mine... actually, between him and Rip-Cord, they tie at Number 1 for me! That being said, I really like this figure, a lot! The parts work perfectly, and the paint is pro-level! Hasbro could learn a thing or two about making figures with existing parts from you (and a few other customizers here)! Thanks for sharing!

Perfect Flint! I like him squinty - you’re right that he matches the card art better that way!
