I always appreciate the feedback guys. More info when I get to single figure spotlights, but some quick info:
This Tunnel Rat was done same time as Flint and Lady Jaye. This whole thing was started when I saw shakka85's MTF version. I was so close to getting the MTF build, when at the last minute I freaked out about a potential height problem. Quote:

Man oh man, those look great! That Falcon is awesome! So glad you didn't use the "old man" head sculpt. To me, the ARAH figure and his "Order of Battle" comic picture make Falcon look more like a fresh Green Beret graduate.
Also, that Tunnel Rat is amazing. I like that both your Falcon and Tunnel Rat use recipes that slightly unique to the customizing community. Jason Quote:

I'll add here that all the figure parts are pretty much LBC assembled. I'll get you all the recipe later, so y'all can make your own. Quote:
A great lineup. Can’t wait to see the individual shots! I remember picking up ROC Sgt Stone back in the day precisely because of the Falcon potential in it, and I’ve seen a few Sgt Stone-based Falcons over the years, but the paint and parts are just so right on this one.

Here's an advanced look at wave 2. Concentrating on tweaking classic versions of Joe's I've selected for my T13 set http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...sfangfang.html. These along with my previous of this thread ("wave 1"), populate the center core of my main Joe display shelf. Future waves will be the result of these figures "infecting" adjacent display figures.
These are actually only test shots for size and color checks. There will be some final tweaks for the individual shots and cardback recreations, which are still a few weeks out. And the post processing on these is purposely overloaded, experimenting with a look that suppose to blend the real toy figure with cartoon and comic looks. While I should be working on the Wave 2 single figure spotlight photos (with the little weekend time I've got for these), my Bad Mother Tattoos Decals came in for some Wave 3 stuff, and I got sidetracked.
I had been searching the interwebs to see if anybody had used the Bad Mother Tattoos Hawaiian Shirt pattern decal sheet for Chuckles, but didn't see that was the case. Below my own first test results: PhotoGrid_1580025748390~2 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr Notes: --My final Chuckles won't be this figure or build (which I'm calling little Chuckles as a hint). I wanted to test the decal application process and results on this before hitting my final. --The head shown is my latest head choice. The head on this figure gets changed every time I pull him from the shelf--nothing seems to be ideal for me, and I've probably gone throught about 8 different heads (and counting). --The decals are slightly translucent, which I like because it makes the floral prints more subtle. If I thought I could get away with it, I'd rather not have the floral prints. But they are just too iconic to the character and figure to exclude. --The background color on the decals are not true clear, but a translucent blue. I should have asked the seller about this beforehand, because when applied to the natural light blue of the figure's shirt (original Hasbro release unpainted), it resulted in a darker blue than I wanted. Further, I had to try a best paint match blue on the areas beyond the areas of the decals (collar, joints, seams, etc), which is not ideal but turned out all right. The color that worked for me was Vallejo Andrea Blue, with small amounts of Vallejo Dark Blue as necessary to darken. Not a great solution in the long run, especially at joints b/c Vallejo is prone to wear and joint rub. --Application of the decals is difficult, mostly because of the large areas required but also working around the shirt creases and joints. Decals were applied in 9 sections, 3 front torso, 2 back torso, 2 each arm, almost similar to actual shirt panels to be sewn together. I've had practice on decals with application of Cobra logos to my legions, but this type of large application did require some testing even before this figure, which won't be the final. But this was also good practice for things to come (here and other threads). --If you look at the sheet print at the ebay store, the floral clusters probably look too tightly packed together. My initial thought was to cut out single clusters and space them out less densely. However they are hard to cut into singles, and applying them as such would result in the different blue shades (decal/no decal) all over the place that would have to be painted over (and likely lose the nice tampo look). I'm requesting that the seller make a version of the decal sheet with clusters printed less densely, but the end results don't actually look too dense (and won't be a problem if the blue background could be eliminated). --I am also requesting that the seller eliminate the printed translucent blue in favor of a clear background, to eliminate the need to repaint the blue as mentioned above. I'll let you all know what comes of that. In the meantime, I made these photos to also share with the seller. Also, my final Chuckles is on hold until I hear back. If I can't get the modified decal sheets, I have a plan B which will take some time and further testing... --Finally, photo below has been processed to reduce the dark blue to the more ideal lighter blue intended. Also I don't like using heads that are instantly recognizable as someone else outside the Joe line. Just another weird thing of mine for my own figures. |

Looks cool! Some guy a while back (sorry I can’t remember who) put those Bad Mother decals on a white Marauders agency torso with t shirt arms and it actually looked really great! Since the shirt was white, the blue patern really popped.

Until this recent wave work, STAR WARS 30TH TYCHO CELCHU A-WING PILOT. Since this body was small I was going for the longer haired younger look of the IDW ARAH comics drawn by SL Gallant. Before that, just about any and every blonde Joe head. I may have tried some Cap A heads, but none seemed right on this body. I've eyed a boat load of casts but fear they too will look weird on this body. That's why my final will be on a new body. But that's on hold till I settle this decal thing.
Also I don't like using heads that are instantly recognizable as someone else outside the Joe line. Just another weird thing of mine for my own figures. I’m about to use a MU Gambit head from the Sinister two pack for a long haired version as done by Gallant.

I really like the Poe head, and looking for a cheap figure on ebay ($5 to $6) as a backup. Per your pics, changing the hair color really helps hide the "Chuckles using Poe's head" issue I have. Also, your previous Steve Evans Steve Rodgers head looked great (though I can't unsee Steve Evans). I'm trying my best to whittle down all the fodder I've accumulated years back when figures were cheap--but it will be hard to just even match the MTF Spec Ops body you use. Last, the Gambit head use is lights out! You have made it hard for me to make this figure without having to buy new parts! Buying any new parts at this point is reserved for my A-listers//T13 level (limited to me Wave 2). Chuckles isn't on that level for me, but he does need the upgrade to look good next to my Falcon, Tunnel Rat, and Jinx. But 6" is coming and wallet needs to prepare (though I've cut down on Marvel Legends and DC Mutliverse to help compensate). |
