I always love these JLW comments!
LJ 1. Pat Benatar was hot, and had the voice! I am old... 2. Anyone notice that a) there was one female figure each year between 1982 and 1987--the year that I stopped [coincidence?], b) each female except Baroness had a main weapon that was not a rifle--but I guess Baroness's huge rifle balanced that all out? Anyway, reminds me that my needs a supplement rifle [I'd swapped out the javelin, but that would upset too many diehards in my mind] 3. I don't know if the SW HS Boba Fett thing was a good thing back then, particularly for the Sunbow cartoons when I watched them in their 1st airings. Each time, I'd get excited about the new mini first showing the latest wave of Joes, but then the cartoon's would be dominated by these main characters who didn't have figures (at least not at the time, and no telling if they were going to be made). For each of the 1st two mini's, I was like WTF right in the 1st minute... 4. See previous response. Just my preference on the legs. I will get a Lady Jaye multiverse family portrait to help compare/contrast all the leg options (similar to previous for Duke and GungHo) next year. Often these pictures help set the direction I go but in this case, side-by-sides w/o photos weren't necessary. Flint: 1. Duke getting captured in the 2nd mini was just a plot device, so that the new characters could shine. The whole Duke+Snake Eyes B-story was pretty weak, compared to their ones for the 1st mini (which were also much shorter in length). Now I'm not slighting Flint over Duke--but the toons had them both shaft the main boss man Hawk (who would finally get his day for the 3rd mini). 2. Agreed with the DOTD, but 25th was just a mess that could not be fixed. At least the DOTD version was correctable. 3. Bunch of subtle changes as you've noticed--and right on about the webgear knife holster. The arm swap, I give credit to Pugsley. I'm not going to lie: these two aren't really on the top of my personal favorites--mostly because they were replacements in many ways to original Joes. But these two were so visually well designed back in the day, and inarguably have iconic status due the the cartoon season 1, and being flagship characters of the mighty 1985 releases. I'm starting off with these two, mostly because of issues I saw when posing and photographing them with Roadblock weeks back, where the figures issues I always sought to fix were really brought to light. Lady Jaye 1. I'm in the "old man" club myself. A co-worker and I (same age-46) talk all the time about how the 1980s were the greatest for cartoons and toys. As far as Benatar & Lady Jaye. Have you seen the concept art for Lady Jaye? Looks super cool and originally she was designed with the knife sheath on her web gear. Makes me think the cartoon version was based on the concept art. Oh, and I loved Lady Jayes voice in the cartoon. Just the right mix of feminine with a little raspy edge to it (Benatar again?) 2. Dude, I've said the same thing about the female characters. And check this out, Baroness's rifle was actually a "high-density laser rifle" even though it has an ammo clip. So, I wonder if Hasbro had a policy of not using real-world weapons with female figures (unless you count the missiles on the Wolverine). And '88 is about the time I stopped collecting the toys also but kept reading the comics. 3. I was so confused as a kid when the original mini-series aired. I have screenshots saved to a folder, and one day I'm going to write an article on my blog about it. Sunbow Duke looked way too similar to Hawk from the Marvel Comics Cartoon Commercials. I still think the Comics Cartoon Commercials had their own little "universe" going there because they never quite match the comics or the cartoon. What got me was when they introduced a character and didn't offer them as an action figure, like Sparks and Big Lob (I know they eventually did). Flint 1. Yeah how many kids that didn't read the comics were instantly confused when Hawk just shows up as the leader? But then again, for me, Hawk was a figure I originally had to customize to own. My friend had an MMS, but I never even saw one in the store. Same thing with the HAL/Grand Slam. 3. I didn't originally see Flint and Lady Jaye as replacements until that Marvel issue where Lady Jaye and Ripcord announce that they are "replacements." The whole action figure character replacement bit hit me with the 1986 wave. Definitely saw Dial-Tone ane Leatherneck as replacements, which is why I don't really care for Leatherneck ;) Jason

Here's an advanced look at wave 2. Concentrating on tweaking classic versions of Joe's I've selected for my T13 set http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...sfangfang.html. These along with my previous of this thread ("wave 1"), populate the center core of my main Joe display shelf. Future waves will be the result of these figures "infecting" adjacent display figures.
These are actually only test shots for size and color checks. There will be some final tweaks for the individual shots and cardback recreations, which are still a few weeks out. And the post processing on these is purposely overloaded, experimenting with a look that suppose to blend the real toy figure with cartoon and comic looks. They look great! I especially like your Falcon as he’s a nice different take than what most people do with him parts wise.

Man oh man, those look great! That Falcon is awesome! So glad you didn't use the "old man" head sculpt. To me, the ARAH figure and his "Order of Battle" comic picture make Falcon look more like a fresh Green Beret graduate.
Also, that Tunnel Rat is amazing. I like that both your Falcon and Tunnel Rat use recipes that slightly unique to the customizing community. Jason |

I love them all, but Falcon and Tunnel Rat are really awesome. That Sgt. Stone head, or whatever he's called, is a really good choice for Falcon.

Spectacular! You've got some of my favorites in this Wave 2 and I can't wait to see who else you add to your roster.

A great lineup. Can’t wait to see the individual shots! I remember picking up ROC Sgt Stone back in the day precisely because of the Falcon potential in it, and I’ve seen a few Sgt Stone-based Falcons over the years, but the paint and parts are just so right on this one.
