WOW!! Thanks for all the shout outs bud! It's appreciated! It's this kind of comradery that I love about the HIssTank! I really appreciate your Sightline custom, being a friend of Gary Goggles, this one speaks to me, love the Resolute SE head usage & red paint work! The Moray is a very cool addition, and it has everything to do with the face paint, makes him feel premium, like a Club figure I missed out on! The updated Cobra Officer looks slick, as the collar really adds a lot to giving him a fresh look! That paintwork on your Grid Iron's legs really shines! I like the updates you made on this one, (like the sticker) & the dark visor looking like current football gear! Great stuff Rob! . Last edited by Steel Brigade; 04-30-2024 at 06:25 PM.. |

Anytime, SB!
Thanks all! Just happy as a clam to pump out these - admittedly - silly kitbashes. Keeps me sane. Kind words are really appreciated. So, this next guy is really just an updated photoshoot. Anyone familiar with my thread knows my photoshoots consist of typically 3 snapshots against a white backdrop. First is the full-on shot with all accessories. Then typically an isometric left-shoulder view with the main weapon or sidearm being held skyward or pointing down, then an isometric right-shoulder view with the figure at-ease or with another accessory. I have come to realize that I prefer the bent-knees, ab-crunch, bent-elbows poses. These indicate a bit of action and lowers the center of gravity just a touch. Previously Mainframe was shot straight-legged in languid, uninteresting poses. Also, this kitbash is REALLY old and needed a new coat of paint on the boots, so, just more housekeeping today. MAINFRAME (V2): 1986 Cutter here has a new vest, so, naturally he gets a new photoshoot. CUTTER (V3): 1993 Ambush has had a couple tiny tweaks. I finally got around to giving him some eyebrows and some white on his teeth. I painted a coat of brown speedpaint over his hair and mutton chops. Wanted to bring out the detail in his hair a little bit. Also, the orange strips around the tops of his boots have been widened. AMBUSH (V2): 1993

Got a new kitbash this time. He is not 100% finished, but that is only because he needs a couple grenades. Other than that, he is good to go. I got some BFS Stygian Warrior hands cuz of the color, but - dang - are they small! And getting ANYTHING in his hands is a losing battle.

Dragonfire/Marauders Low Light is the best character in the Dragonfire series. With that said, he is challenging to recreate, (I've been looking to recreate him for awhile now) as his animation model is not the same as the released Marauder's figure. HACKS hands aren't made for gunnery (that's for sure) & often the wrist pegs don't work well with MGR. Nice job in homaging the look of the animation pal.

Thanks SB!
I have a couple more tonight. There is another thread around here where they asked which were the ugliest G.I.Joes. I picked the Heli-Viper as one of mine. That got me thinking. I wonder if I could make a version of Heli-Viper that took inspiration from the original, but that was not so ugly. As luck would have it, I had a modified Security-Ops torso lying around and also a broken (modified) Retaliation Cobra Commander backpack ?copter in the bin. So, after slapping a few coats of dark red on the tac vest, he, of course, came together very quickly HELI-VIPER (V1): 1992 Next is a super easy one. I got a freebie Sky Patrol Airborne helmet from AVAC?s a while ago. Again, it just so happens that I still had a couple Urban-Ops pieces from the original Kickstarter. The only thing I do not have was an Urban-Ops waist piece. I ended up having to use a Tech-Ops waist and camouflage it. I also had an extra World Peacekeepers backpack laying around. That has a passing resemblance to a parachute pack. AIRBORNE (SKY PATROL) I used to have a Recondo kitbash, but I built him about 5 years ago and I was never really satisfied with him and, in time, he became such a source of frustration, that I took him out of rotation. I updated him with a few WWII parts and a custom head. I am still pretty frustrated with this guy, but I can at least swallow my pride enough to display him. Fun (read: NOT fun) fact - I decided to give Recondo?s hair a brown wash in between pics 2 and 3 in the hopes it would combat some of the paint rub of his hat. RECONDO (V1): 1984 And talk about cobbling a figure together, this WIP has WWII German legs, Contract-Ops chest, a Command-Ops waist, and Agency-Ops arms. This is my first draft for Eco-Warriors Barbecue BARBECUE (V3): 1992

CAPT. GRID-IRON (V1): 1990
DARKLON (V1): 1989 Not totally satisfied with this guy. I might try it with another buck. Hang tight. RECOIL (V1): 1989 UPDATE: Okay, I did a little tweaking to get Recoil a bit closer to the picture I had in my head. Changed the base body from the greener and more woodland-centric Ambush-Ops to the more beige and plains-centric Recon-Ops. Gave Recoil a bit of brown paint on his boots to more resemble the (very out-of-place) riding boots of the original figure. Also painted his helmet (hat? cap?) a dark green. RECOIL (V1): 1989 pt. 2
