This next guy, Buzzer, was a pain in the caboose. He is a parts bin build, but was not as straightforward as I had hoped. He has a fair amount of small tweaks that elevate him above a simple ready-made kitbash. The neck hole for the head is puzzlingly large, so I had to fill that in with glue. The arm holes were way too small to accept the Eagle Force arms. I had to drill the holes. Buzzer?s knees do not exactly fit with the armored lower legs. I had to take the exacto knife to the knees and shave them down a bit.
I saw the Buzzer head digital preview a few months ago on eBay and bought it on a lark to see what the actual product looked like. I did not really ever intend on using it until the Viet Nam guys came out. The head is not bad, but I think the hair is too bouffant and the face is too symmetrical to be a Dreadnok. Buzzer?s shirt is a cast-off from months ago. I had needed the dress shirt arms to finish a previous Dial-Tone custom. The dress shirt torso was really the starting point for Buzzer, even more so than the actual head, but for the life of me, I had no idea how I was going to give him the bare arms that he needs (it is maddeningly hard to get champagne or pale peach BFS arms these days). I got the idea to temporarily take the arms from an Eagle Force figure. I figured I could always give the arms back once Viet Nam is released. After getting the arms on, the dress shirt looked a little too pristine, so I cut out some tiny notches into the arm wells to emulate ripped sleeves. I did not want to overdo it, though. Being a temporary fix, I was not prepared to paint over the Eagle Force arms. That forced me to try to paint the face and neck to match, but, crikey, those arms are pale! Like almost sand white. As a result, Buzzer is not quite the sun-dried Aussie you might expect. His hair is super yellow, but I figured what the hell. The belt is from an LOL Surprise girl figure. As an added treat, the bullets on his bandolier were actually found ground into the carpet just before I glued them on. Weapons will come later. I?ve ordered a chainsaw and Jerry can from MJ. Dude that Buzzer has personality! I noticed how you created the frays in the shirt even before I read the description- nice touch! Too bad bare arms are so hard to come by but these look good for as long as he gets to keep ‘em!

Parts Bin Build!
I?ve been going through my 1:18 heads lately trying to practice doing eyes. While I was digging through the heads I came across an Anthony Mackie Falcon head. It came with a Doc helmet I needed for a previous custom. I painted the head just for fun and when I had finished it, I really wanted to use it for something. I didn?t want to use the head for another Doc. I already have all the Docs I need. So I went through Yojoe to see who I could make with the Mackie head. I couldn?t really find anybody suitable, so then I thought maybe I could make a Battlecorps version of somebody. I settled on the Blind Master. The comic Blind Master has a mustache and the Retaliation Blind Master has a bushy beard. I though I would split it down the middle and do a small beard. I noticed that doing so made the Mackie head look like Redman. I know that comic Blind Master was shown mostly in white, so I knew I wanted white to be the starting point of the build. I got to piecing him together with what I had handy. I had a small victory in the fact that I could FINALLY put some very old Stormshadow knees and lower legs to use. I had not intended to actually paint any of the figure, but knew I would need to tie the colors together somewhat when the lower legs were decided upon. BLIND MASTER (BATTLECORPS) |

Thanks all, your kind words are definitely appreciated.
So, my wife and daughter went to the ballet tonight. My young son had already gone to sleep. That left me with having the house to myself for a couple hours. I went straight to the TV and put on a mini-marathon of The A-Team. Watching the A-Team always makes me curse the fact that I once owned the Armored Car/Wagon and the F-16 when I was a kid and had given them away. Still irks me to this day. That got me thinking of the very bright Murdoch figure and I got the itch to try to make one myself. Just something to pass the time until my girls came back home. This is a slightly tongue-in-cheek parts bin build. HOWLIN MAD MURDOCH
