Another WIP. For this one, I had to sit in my thinkin’ chair for a minute. Instead of painting white accents on a full Night-Ops figure…or painting black swaths on a full Ghost-Ops figure, I wanted to keep the paint to a minimum. This figure is a bit of a jigsaw: I cracked the torso of a Night-Ops trooper and gave him Ghost-Ops upper arms so there wouldn’t be any white paint rub on the shoulders, then painted the neck and shoulders white in the familiar “icicle” pattern. I used black paint up the Ghost-Ops upper-arms in a sorta “reversed icicle” pattern. Finished the upper body with black cloth forearms and black gloves.
The lower body, I used a Night-Ops waist, thighs, and knees…but swapped on some Ghost-Ops cloth lower legs and some white test-shot shoes I got last year. I painted the boots white and went up with the icicle pattern. I hate sculpting, so I opted to use a White/Blue harness rig and paint it gold over the shoulders. It’s gold…so I will need about 18 more coats for it to look any good. The peg holes will be cover over by a gold baseball Grenade and a gold shuriken. I painted the straps black so they would blend in with the torso to make it look like SS is wearing only a belt and gold shoulder pads. Fairly satisfied with the way this one is headed. Loving the progress you've made with that Storm Shadow, definitely looking forward to it's completion.

Next two entries are fairly simple and straightforward. Nothing we haven’t seen before and, quite frankly, although I can’t remember who I copied, the “left-handed-holster-glued-to-the-armor-chest plate” on the second figure is a direct rip-off…so literally something we’ve seen before. The first entry just started out as me trying to think of an excuse to use my gold Rustoleum spray paint on a couple of grenades. The second entry has a very similar reason for being as I found the helmet on eBay at a good price and figured I’d better snatch it up to use at a later date. Tonight I present…

GOLD! Love both of these. I already did the gray Sci-Fi but was actually thinking about making the MTF white version (JUST YESTERDAY) for another upcoming MTF storyline I have been hashing out lol. Nice to see one realized... Great stuff!

Next up are two figures that I spent a little bit more time on. This version of Wild Weasel is probably my third attempt. I had never been satisfied with my other builds. This attempt gets me closer to a stopping point, but even now, I’m still not 100% satisfied. I had previously tried Tac Vests and 86 Vests…but each time Wild Weasel had come out looking too bulky and a little too “Master Chief”. This time I went with a red Agency dress shirt and sculpted a little ascot…although I don’t think it comes through very well in the pics. And, unfortunately, this guy sports just about every shade of red imaginable, both matte and gloss. I went ahead and made him a black dude since I figured Cobra Command was always lacking a little in diversity in those early years.
The second figure is the last vintage version of Ozone. He’s actually probably my least favorite version of the guy, but you can’t say he’s not at least distinctive, and, of course, I DO have some affection for Star Brigade. Also, I keep wondering why I do this to myself, but…yellow!…am I right? Jesus, I hate painting yellow. But…these guys are finished and I can move on. WILD WEASEL (V1): 1984 OZONE (V4): 1994

Gold is right! Awesome Rob, Storm Shadow is just plain awesome, and that Viper V3 you did, pops so much man, that gold reminds me of Eagle Force, superb on him dude! Is that Testors gold? Anyways, Ozone V4 is fricking awesome, what mores to be said there and loving that version of SCI-FI too, as for Wild Weasel, whoa, love that so much and he’s one of my ultimate favorites of Cobra, perfect dude (well I think it is), love your stuff! ;)
