Thanks Track. God bless ya.
This next guy is sort of a surprise. I mean in that I was surprised I actually got finished with him. I work on a few guys at a time, bouncing from this figure to that figure as paint cures or new pieces come in or, God forbid, when I have five minutes to myself. This figure had been sitting on my workstation for months. He has a fair bit of painting and glueing (for me, anyway) and he just never seemed to be getting anywhere. Me and the wife were watching our BBC mystery shows last night while I was half-heartedly painting when, lo and behold, I finished him. Could have blown me over with a feather. Anyway, long story short (TOO LATE!), here is Battlecorps Snow Job. P.S.: With this being a Battlecorps figure, I didn?t feel restrained by practicality or pesky reality. Why does his sub gun have two clips? Why does he wear an ammo belt around his waist? Why does he carry a grenade on his calf? Why and how does he carry a mounted machine gun next to his ear? And why, if he is an Arctic guy, does he just wear a button-down shirt? It is Battlecorps, people! It makes no sense and it is wonderful! P.P.S.: I am not familiar with aspects of the real military, but I do my best to honor the military. My Grandfather was in WWII, my dad and uncles all served. My uncle Dale saw action in ?Nam (he was a door gunner). My brother-in-law flew in the Army. I mention this because I get actually stressed out when it comes to putting inappropriate or incorrect rank insignia or division patch stickers on my guys. I have a couple of those stickers from Marauders and Toyhax, but i don?t stick them on for fear of getting it wrong. I take military honor very seriously. Now, I did go against my nature and put a 3rd Infantry sticker on this figure as I felt he needed SOMETHING on his sleeves and the Rock of Marne sticker was about the only one I had that was not an Airborne sticker. I read Snow Job?s filecard and, unfortunately, it is a bit sparse. I read up on the 3rd Infantry just a tiny bit and I don?t believe Snow Job would specifically be excluded from being in the 3rd Infantry. If I have labeled this guy incorrectly, please let me know and I will take it off. I would much rather have a bland custom than to inadvertently besmirch the storied history of that division. I mean that sincerely. Anyhoo, enough ado. Here is Battlecorps Snow Job SNOW JOB (BATTLECORPS)

Rob you've been killing it lately, can't catch my breath before you drop another awesome looking custom. Those BBC shows are quite inspiring, love BBC!
Dude your Snow Job is freaking solid and YES you knocked it out of the park with the impressive snow/arctic camo! What's the technique behind it? Leatherneck is fantastic looking with the new MK-II dark green camo. SB delivered that one in his latest round of awesomeness and I see it now again. I guess great minds think alike. SAW Viper is another solid build, impressive work as usual!

The color choices on BC Snow Job are fantastic. The camo color is super saturated, which works because it's such a cold shade.

Thanks all. Your kind words are much appreciated.
Okay, it has been a bit of a week for me as drops go. Lotta moving parts have come together because of my last Marauders order. A lot of guys were sitting in my workspace half-formed just waiting on this piece or that, or this coat of paint, or that mod. Not quite finished yet. Without further ado. Wild Bill: I had done a previous V1 Wild Bill and it is in my thread somewhere, but I never intended to keep it. At the time, I only had one Cavalry hat and I was content with having the Fort Laramie V2 Wild Bill. But then Dime Novel came out with some amazing stuff and I wanted to get my hands on some of it. Long story short, the DNL stuff is great and could not be happier with the stuff I got. This build is simple, yes, but I love it just the same. It is very hard to see in any of the pics, but I painted a yellow shirt just peeking out from under his collar to give him a bit of a Robert Duval vibe. Lastly, 1983 is my very favorite year of G.I.Joe so I really should have a V1 Wild Bill. Scrap Iron: I had an extra Scrap Iron head that I really wanted to use for something. Also, I wanted to have an excuse to get the new Chimera MKII. I figured I would kill two birds with one stone. This custom is just a quickie. And again, it is a Battlecorps version. The missile launcher was originally a Captain America: First Avenger accessory. The thing was originally in primary reds, yellows, and blues and the missile itself was this horribly garish suction cup thingy. I tore the cup off and dremeled a hole to accept a Final Faction claw/tuning fork arm attachment (that was fun to make). I have used the missile launcher before as the main weapon for my Biosfera custom. Mercer: Nothing special here, just basically stole paokole?s custom and made my own. I will say that I wanted mine to be a bit more of a throwback so I didn?t give him any knee pads or grenades. A keen eye will see that this is another 2020 head. Night Creeper (Female): this started when I wanted to see if the Jakku Rey head actually came off of the figure. Sure enough, it fit on the figure just like any head would. That?s cool, I thought. Then I wondered if it would fit on a Valkyrie. More or less is the answer. It ain?t perfect and, of course, there is no actual head underneath the wrapping, but all in all it is a serviceable custom. And that brings the total number of time the head got me thinking of a new custom to: ALMOST ALL OF THEM! Vehicle: The One-Eyed Willie: Okay, this was done just to see if I could upgrade a cheap Kid?s Connection tank-ette to something just a bit more. The only reason I got this vehicle in the first place is cuz Fresh Monkey was supposed to create some Eagle Force stickers for it when the Eagle Force Returns Kickstarter came out. Turns out there was a mix-up and, while stickers were made, they couldn?t go on the tank they told us to go out and get. So I have had this cheap lump of plastic sitting in the house for 3 years. I decided to practice my cutting of acetate and try to put a windshield in the canopy. Then, because I want to do an Arctic version of Steeler someday, I thought I would paint the thing white. The mounted cannon that came with the vehicle was floppy and just looked like an insanely scaled up .50 cal. I turned the gun upside down in the bracket, cut off the barrel, stuck a Retaliation Joe Colton missile launcher on it and called it a day. I tore off a seat from another Kid?s Connection vehicle and hot glued it to the inside of this one. The driving handle is from a Final Faction Jeep as is the one red headlight. This was just a fun little experiment for me. WILD BILL (V1): 1983 SCRAP IRON (BATTLECORPS) This is what the missile launcher looked like originally: MERCER (V1): 1987 NIGHT CREEPER (FEMALE) THE ONE-EYED WILLIE (Arctic Version: The Chilly Willie?)

Are you in some kind of race that the rest of us are just not aware of? lol The amount of figures you have dropped this week has been insane!!
Nice Wild Bill, looks alot like the one I built awhile back, but I know you have been waiting to complete yours same as I was... great minds think alike, but I also like that you added the flight helmet to yours. That's cool about your '83 appreciation and adding another release from that year. I too have been sitting on my Mercer for ages (2020 actually) waiting to use a different head than the one you painted from the MGR 2020 unreleased catalog selection. I imagine a lot of us MGR builders are going to have a lot of the same characters coming out as they are released right? XD You have a rando pick of Biosfera in there with no comment? That Night Creeper female is awesome awesome awesome! I love it! Great from top to bottom and very creative usage of that Rey topper! Easily my fave of this week! Yeah... THIS WEEK lol Kudos on the "One Eyed Willie" you Goonie, looks great and good on you for pushing it through after those stickers failed, first I heard of this but I feel for ya and think that Tank-ette looks dope! |

One more, haha!
And speaking of 1983, my very favorite run of the G.I.Joe comic book are issues #11 (the Pipeline Ploy, but that one is a self contained issue) and #12 - #19. Of course, there are many more stellar issues (#21, #25 - #34, and others), but these are the pinnacle of G.I.Joe stories for me. So, I am sure you have guessed that my next figure is none other than the Shadow Man, the conniving and whimpering host of the Weasel Spirit, Doctor Venom. Using a Moff Tarkin head is as mainstream as it comes when doing a Dr. Venom custom. No surprises here. I do want to mention, though, that this is the first time I have painted a head and did not need to set aside three hours to paint the eyes. Slice had advised to try painting the eyes by holding the head upside down. I tried it and did not do too badly. My eyes and faces have gone from Vomit-Inducing to Factory Reject. Admittedly not great, but hey, it is a step up for me. Thanks Slice! DR. VENOM
