I use the same head for my Stalker. I alternate between a Marauder beret and the knit hat depending on the look I want. I use the green Shipwreck body as my base figure.

Also, what makes you decide which headgear to go with on a given day//week? I keep switching to make sure they both look good, without just getting too settled on one or the other. Also depends on what I see others doing at the moment--BatesDragon got me switched back to the knit cap a few days ago, but mine looks more off to me now. Reworking the skull, chin, eyebrows and mustache (but also just getting use to it after a few days). |

Ever since the Sideshow Collectibles Stalker-inspired photo you did (now your Avatar) I?ve become curious just how much the Wayons head could be made to resemble ROC even less. ... thanks for the idea. |

Kind of continuing our conversation on berets from FB, with Scarlett, Snake Eyes and Beachhead wearing berets as a part of there combat gear, this gives me some The Expendables vibes. It kind of ties them all together as a unit.
I get that berets are not practical in combat, but I like the (prior) exclusiveness that a beret portrayed. Of course, now, that exclusiveness is illustrated through the color of the beret, but typically only with dress uniforms. As I mentioned on FB, my Army son says they are hot and uncomfortable (itchy), but there is still this pride in wearing one. And there is this kind of style where the "cool" way to wear a beret is with the flap(?) as flat and pointed down the side of the head as possible. At his graduation from boot camp, my son was constantly trying to make the side lay down as flat as possible. A good friend of mine's son-in-law just retired as a Major from the Army. My friend, Frank, would always emphasize that his SIL is a Major. I finally told him one day, "Bro! Your son-in-law is not simply a Major, he's a 75th Ranger -- like a legit, tan-beret Ranger, not simply went to Ranger school." On another note, I know Hasbro has always marketed Stalker as a "Ranger," but I've always considered him a Green Beret. As mentioned on FB, that scene from "Like Chimney Sweepers Come to Dust," there are several Joes who should be considered Green Berets, including Duke and Flint. There was a discussion on identifying the characters in that one panel somewhere here on Hisstank. I created an image of that panel trying to identify each member, but it's on my old laptop. If I can find that discussion, I'll post a link in this thread if that's OK. Jason

Jason The Expendables visual reference was somewhat intentional, though honestly not in a particularly positive way (initially). But after reviewing it for a few days before posting, i thought it looked "cool" in a way, and realized that the photo could be taken and enjoyed in different ways. Love the additional info on the beret shaping. Based on what you describe might explain why I don't like the unmodified beret sculpts available. I assume the high side has a cool preferred shape as well? Can you ask? Retconning Stalker to a Green Beret is something I can't bring myself to do. Maybe because Stalker is what introduced my young self to the concept of a US Army Ranger, and through the years, how cool that was (whereas Green Beret always seemed to have that image to me). But I like how you balanced out the various elite forces in you squad, and Stalker is definitely worthy of the switch. BTW, in my T13, Stalker definitely went to Ranger school, but may not have actually served in a actual Ranger unit. I envision him being plucked out very early in his young career to be part of one Duke's mid years spec ops unit (preceding the T13 iteration) along with Scarlett and SE (and other non T13). For my toyline, I'd redub him "Special Operations" (in the nineties it was "Black Ops"), leaving the toytag "Ranger" to Beachhead. |

I'm glad we could continue this here on old-fashioned forum threads. On Facebook I feel like I'm exceeding an written word limit beyond one sentence.

I like the idea of your joes wearing their original berets, showing where they came from, in garrison non tactical environments of course. BH needs his maroon beret. |
