had this on my to do pile for awhile. friend of mine is always giving me his left over parts and stuff for free or maybe a trade here and there. i definitely make out better in the deal then him no matter how i try and square things up with him so as a thank you i made him and me a modern version to go along with our club exclusive jeeps. just need to get us some stickers one of these days for them.

the friend i made one for put it next to his vintage one from when he was a kid and said the paint is spot on, which makes me happy since i didnt have a vintage to go off of and i wanted to do a good job for him.
i was going to take the ram apart and air brush the parts like i normally would but i couldnt get the cowl off, even with some thinner in there. not taking that off means i couldnt finish separating the body or drilling out the rivets in the wheels. hand painting those wheels was a pain, the paint didnt want to stick for anything. so a ton of light coats later finished it off. if you plan on doing it i say go for it. it was really easy. the dash board pops off super easy. i found the tan version was easier to paint for some reason. the tail light i had to break off but you could mask it if you wanted. i super glued them back on. the green and the tan are the same other then the tail light. so pick the one with the light you want or just paint the light but i like it not painted. i kept the red tail light version for myself |
