So... first up... Disclaimer #1: I don't know the extent to which you want this tied to established mythologies, or for that matter to what Hasbro's corporate PR people tiresomely call "the G.I. Joe versus Cobra fantasy", so if anything I suggest contradicts your "head canon", you should of course feel free to disregard it. But I look at this fella, and because of that head the first thing that jumps to mind is Cthulu. I actually haven't read any Lovecraft (yet), but it's become one of those things that has gotten its hooks into the culture at large, sort of like gray aliens did in the '90s. So my thinking is: no one has any photographs or other evidence of this thing's existence, but it has been seen throughout the ages... in various regions of the world. And it has been described differently in each region, perhaps owing to the influence of the culture and folklore of each region. (I confess I don't know which region of the world would be most likely to suggest that the thing has a rodent head!) In the present day, there is a two-fisted scholar in the vein of Indiana Jones. He resides in Providence, Rhode Island ('cause that's where Lovecraft was born). He is the only historian and folklorist dedicated to the study of the "scary thing"; to everyone else in academia, it is a fool's myth, beneath contempt. But this scholar/adventurer dude has followed rumors of the creature's existence in Mexico (where he admonished a Latino colleague thusly: "No, you fool, it's not la chupacabra! I'm telling you, it has the body of a snake!"), and to the remote arctic, where its story overlaps with strange reports of an ancient cult of plant people who worship snakes (that's a nod to Cobra-La, Milt; I don't know your level of familiarity with established Joe narratives). This latter notion accommodates the Man-Thing-ish head, which looks somewhat plant-like: In Egypt they call it Serpent-Ra. A modern terrorist group calls it Serpent-Or and bases much of their iconography on the creature. The scholar dude who fancies himself the expert on the beast (and for now I'll leave it to you to determine the scholar's name, not least because I don't know that you're even planning to incorporate contemporary components into your H.A.C.K.S.verse!) has his own name for it: Brawychus ...why? 'Cause I typed your placeholder name for him ("scary") into google to see translations into other languages, and this one (Welsh) struck me as the coolest. If you prefer to call him the translation for "Scary Thing" (but as one word), go for Brawychusbeth. ...or disregard this goofy suggestion entirely, if you prefer! Up next...
I don't know if "Asperity Steeds" is an established name, but I dig it, and wouldn't change it. Or maybe I'd change it to Steeds of Asperity. But probably not. While I grant you "Evil Skeletons" is not the most exciting name, I also don't know that they need a specific name. But if they do: I imagine that there are just legions and legions of them, and (ignoring the fact that they don't have vocal chords... 'cause it's not like they have ligaments or sinew to keep their bones together!), I like to think that they produce an eerie scream in battle. I would have people refer to them only in plural form, as... The Shrika Koruak (Shrika = Swedish for "scream"; Koruak =Basque for "chorus") Once upon a time I would hesitate to be so reckless with the use of other languages, for fear I'd produce an embarrassing anachronism or some other stupid mistake, like putting the words in the wrong order or something (not that I'm suggesting you should use these names as translations of the words or phrases in question; I'm just suggesting names that I think sound cool). But I recently revisited all four Indiana Jones movies through Amazon's streaming service, which offers pop-up trivia notes... and holy crap, there are dozens and dozens of geographical and cultural mistakes in those movies. So now I say "Screw it". ...and if you don't like the notion that they scream, one of my favorite Slayer tracks is "Silent Scream", and so you can add another language's word for "silent". I recommend either "Dawel" (Welsh) or Siekta (Maltese). So that leaves you with the following options: The Shrika Koruak The Dawel Shrika The Shrika Siekta These are just my weird-ass suggestions while I hack up a lung and pretend I don't have work tomorrow, ya understand. And now...
I'm digging this convenient cheat of taking the basic placeholder names you're supplying and finding cool-sounding translations for them, but in this case I'm going to replace "coral" with "choral" to subtly connect this bare-breasted beauty to the screaming legions of skeletons (or silently screaming skeletons, if you prefer). Here are some options: Lithuanian: chorinis Maltese: korali Welsh: corawl (!!!) (it's so close to "crawl"!) And should we choose to be literal-minded and add "snake" back to her name, here are some translations: Galician: serpe Irish: nathair And just for giggles I typed "slither" into the translation site: Albanian: shkas Catalan: lliscar Estonian: libisema French: glisser Galician: esvarar Welsh: llechu Since my preference is that we treat these names as simply names and not as translations, you can mix and match any number of the words above in whatever order you wish, or just use one, which is what I chose to do. For my money, the coolest option is... Korinis You'll note I changed the spelling. Maybe I'll wake up in the morning and think these are all stupid, but I'm having fun for now. As for a story for her, since I connected her linguistically with the screaming chorus of skeletons, maybe she is a siren? Just to shake it up and at least suggest something original: for all the creepiness and horror of her visage, maybe she is a siren who doesn't lure sailors to their deaths, but rather a siren who lures demons and undead skeleton warriors and the like to their deaths? A good guy siren snake lady with boobs? I'd buy that for a dollar! Last edited by Monte Williams; 03-19-2018 at 02:04 AM.. |

And finally...
First off, she reminds me of McFarane's Voodoo Queen, which is awesome! Now then... words for which I sought translations this time: Jungle Dance (since her name includes "Boogie"; be grateful I didn't conduct a translation search for "cheerleader" in response to your skeleton post!) Shadow and Tracker Voodoo (no translation results!) Queen This time, I'm not specifying which word a given translation connects to, nor what language supplied it. Let's just reach our hand into the jar o' words and see what we like! reina seklys trakeris sombra ombra dawns damhsa tanssi valle selva viidakko I kinda like Ombra Sombra, but I fear it sounds racist. Like Ooga-Booga or some crap. I also dig Dawns Damhsa (or one word: Dawnsdamhsa), but it sounds like a Star Wars character. If it were my story, I think I'd go with a combo of two of the words above: Seklysombra And as for her story, the fourth season finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer concerned the First Slayer, who was African. Curiously, when I conducted a google search for her it yielded a name, though she claims in the episode not to have one: Sineya. That name might work for your custom, too, although I'd probably use your custom as a warrior who worships and fights in tribute to Sineya, rather than Sineya herself. So like Boobsy the Bare-Breasted Snake Woman (yes, I've already forgotten her name; sue me, it's way past my bedtime), I'm suggesting you take a scary figure and utilize it as a badass heroine who fights demons and monsters and snake people and such. Whew. What a fun way to end the night. Thanks for helping me out of my funk. I hope there's something in all this silliness you can use! VENEEN "His name is Veneen (Finnish for "skiff", ha ha).Though he appears to be a healthy, beautiful specimen, he is hiding a hideous tragedy: beneath the heavy gauntlet on his left hand, his flesh has rotted away to reveal the bone. It is not leprosy, but something darker. Something supernatural. Also he has an eerie, screechy voice, and he encourages the rumors that he has no face. Now he must wield Legenarra, the sword that afflicted him. Anyone whose skin touches Legenarra's blade suffers the same fate." As per Monte. Wouaw. This guy just happened while I was painting the new accessory kits, kinda fell together Then. The vest is an old Obi-Wan robe, Prince of Persia armbands and I have this inexplicable love for the Lando Skiff Guard helmet..

Love these, I'm finding myself spiraling into the HACKS figures, so much so that I’ve almost considered selling my MTF Joe’s to fund a collection of these...almost...
