After finishing my X30 Conquest, it is time for Cobra to get a fast jet of their own! I may have a go at something bigger (Night Raven?) in the future. But for now, here is the tiny, terrifying, and wonderfully ridiculous Firebat. This little red microfighter reminds me of some of the last ditch desperate efforts of the Germans in WWII to defeat heavy bombers with small interceptors such as like the Me 163, back when jet and rocket technology was the mysterious and terrifying way of the future.
My Firebat is much larger than the original, but at 25 studs long, it still probably pushes the envelope in terms of what is a feasible size for a mini-fighter. Building challenges included figuring out how to incorporate retractable landing gear into such a small fuselage. The cockpit opens sideways, using a technique I perfected on the Rattler II/Razorback, and I ended up giving it a two tone red livery just because I thought it looked a little extra evil and nasty. Hell, it wasn't camouflaged to begin with anyway! The answer is Yes, definitely. In fact, the Terror Drome is already underway. I hope to share some WIP pics in the not too distant future. Last edited by Stormgard; 02-28-2019 at 02:10 AM.. |
