For the noks, I went with a mix of the two Testors flesh tints to avoid having to do a primer. My method of matching is effective but annoying: paint over all matching areas. That's why I'm holding off on the Ripper hand switch...

Ditto. Very nice. Excellent display presence on those steps with the Cobra symbol behind, and good lighting! Well done!

Just got caught up. Love all the tweaks and improvements you've made. I saved a bunch of pictures to do the same.

3rd Shelf Dreadnoks are done for now*:
gCobra_25th_86-85_Dreadnoks_2018-0121g Design notes and 3-pack pics in the coming days... Here's the shelf arrangement, left of Shelf2, rearranged, when these all go back: gCobra_25th_Shelf-1Dreadnoks_2018-0123b And Shelf3, in new arrangement: gCobra_25th_Shelf-3ViperCorp1_2018-0125b Shelf 4 is basically by Cobra 1982 (O13) and Cobra 1983 sets previously posted, with a little mix of Cobra 1984 troopers mixed in, and jammed together. Maybe in the next few weeks, I'll get the gumption to set up that monster of a photo in that combined arrangement. http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...sfangfang.html http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...sfangfang.html http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...sfangfang.html The 4 shelves then represent my "Essential" Cobra Cabinet. *Just got some Cobra and Dreadnok decals in. I'm not too proficient w/ decal application, so I'm gonna play and test those on some fodder for a while, before applying to these guys (and any tips from others would be appreciated). Also, I'm fighting over if I should add weathering to jeans--I love the results of DerStahlhelm's Noks (http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...dreadnoks.html)--but I'm afraid the effect might clash with the rest of the figures in my Cobra Collection, which all purposely maintain a certain toyetic finish. We'll see... |

These are all great! I'm going to have to revisit several times just for all of the recipes. Beautiful photography of everything as well.

Dreadnok additional pics and notes:
-Ripper: upper arms from POC Monkeywrench and cardback Ripper for the tattoos; lower arms from Zap, head reset higher with hot glue. Torch: body (minus feet) from Slaughter's Marauder's Spirit, repainted; head reset with hot glue -Buzzer: the original carback figure, repainted -Monkeywrench: 5 pack Gung-ho with sculpted thicker neck; Serpentor lower arms, head from wrestler figure, sculpted (badly) googles and cut hair. Also added grenades on bandolier from a matching bandolier. Thrasher/Thunder: repainted eyebrows, added Copperhead belt Zandar: repainted gold parts, repainted pink to match Zarana Zarana: touchup paint on red parts, repainted hair orange Road Pig: sculpted thicker neck, and repainted flesh; Lower legs from Serpentor Gnaw: upper body from from 50th Gung Ho (shaved down back and side muscles), lower body from 25th Torch; belt from Shockwave; dogtags from Torch Zanzibar: arms and upper body from comic pack Ripper; legs from ROC Flash (for now) All: as released with subtle repainting Zartan: This is an alternate "modern/older" stand-in the pops on and off my main shelf depending on my mood, from POC Zartan with sculpted mohawk. Looks neat next to the more modern Dreadnoks, but is shorter and doesn't blend with the classics as much. I haven't got all the tweaks I want on my Dreadnoks set. I haven't spent as much time on these as I have the other sets, so likely there will be updates to the Dreadnok set in the months to come, before I am able to let go of these guys (as in put back on the shelf on move on to other things). |
