Alley Viper is one of my favorite figures. As a kid, the back back with the grapple hook, shield, visor, and sub-machine gun all were exactly what I wanted in a figure. Admittedly, Alley Viper was a harbinger of the line's decent into neon hell. I never owned Alley Viper, instead I lusted after my friends' figures, which have informed my classified collection.
Classified Alley Viper is still cool and I admit the orange and blue pop, even if entirely impractical. After looking at a bunch of customs on eBay and scouring these forums, I thought I'd give a repaint a try. I aimed for an urban camo with a little more flair than Firefly. Overall, I am happy with it. I learned a lot and I have fun doing it. |

That's really cool. I'm a little curious if were you inspired by the DDP designs in any way.

Nice pull! I did read that issue earlier this year, so maybe subconsciously. I liked the color of a primer I used on a model gun rack so much that I though I might just try and put an additional layer of camouflage over the alley viper, toning down the orange and blue.
There is also a Belgian camo featured in an issue of the US Calvert catalog that had some dark red on an otherwise fairly standard forest camo. So putting the red into an urban camo seemed plausible to me (I?ve sense discovered it definitely is not more plausible.) My vision of the greman grey, orange and blue camo still looks good in my head, but In attempting to reassemble this figure I didn?t realize the sealer was weakened by heat - so I got a lot of peeling on the vest - which gave it clumps, also stole a bit of my thunder. |

Oh wow bro. That turned put excellent! It looks factory fresh and now i kinda wish the standard AV had THIS color scheme instead of orang n blue.
