I forget where that thread went. Was waiting to see some ideas and try some. I actually think it's an interesti g idea of a unique Joe color beret, from a toyetic standpoint, and a military fantasy Joe verse standpoint. Alas, fee takers, and soon Eagle Force Returns will dominate and own the beret look, and my beret bing month is also coming to a close...

The basic beret colors already in use are: black, tan, maroon/red, and green; and you definitely don't want to use blue because then the Joes just look like a bunch of UN troops ;-) My only thought here would be, besides black, would be to use a lighter shade of Green like an olive green or just use black but customize a uniform beret flash for the team. You could do a deep blue that gets close to black.
You could do black with some bright piping along the bottom seam. Black/light green Black/red Black/yellow

Amazing work. Some of the best custom figures I've ever seen.

The problem with choosing a Team beret color is finding a generic color, which is probably why The Expendables went with black.

Jason Otherwise I think I'm going to try try a super dark grey first with color trim first, then try to lean a bit blue or red maybe even green. I just got in 3 more berets today. Also wouldn't mind seeing others explore this--don't know how long I can go with this (remember that I originally wanted to get of all the berets). |

When I was creating Marauder-based Joes, I had settled on a navy blue beret, to avoid the UN comparison.

So last time I went on and on about Stalker's beret color, settling on black for its historical accuracy and the way it looked on his vintage green camouflage stylings, and how it wasn't too devianf from his original black.
Messing with a tan beret, the modern ranger color did interest me despite misgivings of blending modern tan with vintage green, so I had immediately started playing with ideas. First idea was to try the tan on hasbro modern figure of Stalker, namely the POC/30th version complete with modern inspired digital camo and...dreadlocks. It was a sharp looking figure that seemed to hit all the right Stalker boxes without offending, except maybe the dreadlocks which were borrowed from the Resolute mold. The greens were lighter than vintage, so I thought the tan wouldnt clash so bad, but the black gear did clash and a lot of it was switched over to a matching beret tan as well. I only wanted to do paintwork on the original figure concept test, no swapping parts, to see if the concept would have worked if released with just paintwork change: 20220827_231407 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr The tan color quite a different look, but works pretty well visually. Also with most Joe fans understanding that tan is modern correct, I think they would have welcomed that change to complete the update. Putting the vintage inspired and modern style side by side really shows both the differences and the similarities. For me it kind inspired a crazy idea: Stalker and Son! Lonzo and Lonzo Jr. So comic booky I know, but given the source...Plus most accept Zartan having a teenage kid (whereas in my head the excellent Zanya figure is Zartan's ____. The only thing missing was an alternate modern helmet that one would see if image googling US ranger moodern. https://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-j...t-stalker.html |
