How could this have been posted on 5/09/2020 and I never saw it? That is a real-world Snake-Eyes, with a very cool camouflage, brother! I am always jealous of your photography, as my crummy iPhone 6 was not for taking pictures... My wife keeps telling me I need to upgrade, but I’d rather save my money until the phone dies and has to be replaced... I guess I’m a bit of a cheapskate when it comes to phones. Anyway, getting back on topic, your figure and your photo are great!
-Todd Shakka85 If i ever complete this set, figures will have minimal mods from this base figure, trying to treat this base similar to the original 1982 base for the first o13. Scarlett will be a challenge--waiting for more new joy toy product. Todd, i don't you don't need a fancy dedicated camera--I don't think my Samsung s9 is much of an upgrade to an iphone 6. I have always like your photos and presentation. If anything, I'd recommend upping the filesize and resolution, no digital zoom, minimal cropping, and spot focus at the chest just below the chin as simple tweaks with high returns without camera/phone upgrade. That said, you should get an updated phone for at least security purposes. And cuz your wife said to... |

Below is retake of the figure. Wanted all the head with the goggles down. Having the goggles down on the previous pic was too on the nose I felt--with everyting else different from the original SE card art, I really only wanted to imitate the pose only, and show off those articulated toes.
I also wanted to show off the factory applied camo better, for those who haven't seen these Joy Toy figures up and close. The previous figure really didn't show that off as well as it could--the blue background really did a number with camera's auto settings for white balance. Instead of fighting the color change, I boasted it for a different look. Finally, wanted to show the effects of colored backgrounds (why I stayed with neutral grey), and a baseline level of processing and filtering I do (and reasons for). PhotoGrid_1592013775337 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr 1. Grey background, camera's autosettings, unfiltered: camera tends to favor brighter settings, lighter camo on the right shoulder gets washed out. 2. Grey background, manual brightness setting, unfiltered: I almost always lower the brightness (exposure) a little bit so I can catch the hightlights on the figure plastic, but not get them washed out. 3. Same file as 2, processed: bring out the green more, and darken the shadows for more depth, darkened for personal preference. 4. blue background, camera's autosettings, unfiltere: colored backgrounds change the camera's white balance, figure's colors look totally different (yellow), but no wash out in light areas. 5. same as 4, 1-pass auto correct: camera doesn't fix the white balance automatically, but boosts color saturation slightly 6. same as 4, manually filter corrections: cranked down the "warmth", unforunately, no nice deep shadowing form original to enhance. Overhead spotlights were cut of by blue box. Also box too close to back of figure, casting slight figure shadow onto background. Finally, should have lit figure better so that lower mask didn't black out, and add more shadow cast at base to ground/weight figure in empty floorless background. |

Working on another pass at Scarlett, to help manage my grief over Hasbro's new Wal-Mart Retro figure. Deflated that they couldn't manage budget tooling for a POC/30th/BFS tier new body sculpt.

Nice. I just got another Resolute Scarlett to try and do your figure on the Left.

This SE is a part of a work in progress reimagining of the o13 in today's real world US army elite, including team assembly. Still working out many details. Maybe ready next year...

Not the direction I'm gonna try, but it would have nice if the resolute sculpt was re-released at a price less than secondary market current prices.
