Man I really like these! I love that you tweaked the HISS driver to create a FANG pilot. It was pretty creative of Hasbro BITD to list HISS drivers as qualified FANG pilots - kind of made up to the kids for not including an action figure. With the exception of (maybe) Yearbook 2, I don't think the comics or cartoons caught on to this.
My favorite has to be the Stinger Driver though! I never owned one as a kid and always thought the rocket launcher was just so cool looking. This is definitely a figure I hope Hasbro updates in the future. Jason If they update the Stinger driver, that would be great--the light grey paint over the dark grey of the shock trooper was (is) a pain. But they need to change up the webgear from the one shown in their concept cases. I don't know if the shock trooper vest is the best solution, but it works for me these days. Also the grey uni as a whole bothers me conceptually, though in the end it is "historically accurate". I want my early cobras legions to stay more uniform in color. In my head, when the tomax/xamot and their financing came around (1985), they would then have a big say on future troop uniforms, and the rest is crazy colorful history. |

I actually use my phone--Samsung Galaxy 5 (old!), set to its highest resolution, but then downsized when posting here. I find the trick is all in the lighting. Using as much indirect daylighting as possible by reflection from white surfaces, and using daylight not soft white bulbs, screened out by thin white paper or fabric. The backgrounds are dull, uniform and muted so that the figures' colors dictate the camera's auto color and white balancing settings. And no flash, unless all other lighting drowns out shadows. These are things I have picked up in the last year through trial and error, and still learning... |

I have decided that my representative 82-83 driver should be blue, and sacrificed another extra shock trooper to the cause. I'm thinking the grey represents either a whole special unit, or the default uniform for desert conditions (ala tan Grunt/Clutch).
I also didn't realize that the desert Bludd used Commander's upper legs, so I switched that on this comics pack version. gCobra_25th_83-83_2017-0806a |

The photo below started as the Air Trooper with the alternate gyro gear I originally had in mind. Then I thought to add the crew for the FANG and HISS. Then finally I thought: Bring them all (troops at least)...

Lord, if they had these versions on the shelves, I would buy more stuff every time I walked into the store.

That's an amazing picture. I love the way you set it up. There's kind of an Order of Battle cover feel about it.
