Pics and writeups for two more...
gCobra-2p4-O13concept-25th_2017-0708 Cobra Officer: A tweak of the traditional Hasbro Cobra Officer, and a nod to Lt. Clay Moore from the cartoons. I played up the silver to make up for staying with red cobra chest symbol, which then matches with everyone else—especially the Commander. I tell myself this. I tell myself that I don’t need the SDCC Missile Command Center… Recipe: 2014 Cobra Trooper (for the gold shoulder insignia), with typical Cobra Officer webgear. Added the helmet V symbol with figure package bubble plastic. Head from 2011 Steel Brigade (inspired by Image Comics and the 2008 DTC Cobra Officer). Goggles from ? Painted rifle, webgear, straps, mask, arm and knee pads with Citadel Leadbelcher. Large Dragunov rifle from 2011 Winter Soldier with Jet Pack (Captain America comic series). Backpack from 2007 General Hawk (or same mold from different figure). Cobra Comm Officer: This guy started out as an analogue to Breaker (the anti-Breaker), built as a slightly repainted Cobra trooper figure with Breaker’s headgear. Then I started tweaking him over the years, and he became that Cobra guy with the headset at Cobra Base, seen in the comics (#1, #4) but without the red mask. He’s not quite the proto Tele-Viper, as these guys stay off the battlefield and stay on base or in the trucks. Recipe: 2013 DG Cobra Trooper figure, with 2011 Renegades Duke lower legs/feet. Repainted with Citadel Kantor Blue, Testors Flat Black, and Citadel Leadbelcher. Thigh gun and holster replaced with knife and sheath from the boot. Headset from 2013 Eaglehawk, and Skorpion machine pistol from loose seller. Also love the dark blue hooded CC. Stellar work, my man!

Thanks for the comments Jason. The weapons supplier connection/idea is fun! Let me know how you'd like your no-prize delivered...
The nemesis idea was really just an easy way of generating ideas for basic, different, but generic troopers for the set. The Joe O13 are, after all pretty generic and standard per MO (no offense to the O13, though, as you'll see in my future threads). The nemesis idea would have had cross-sell potential back in the day, in retrospect. But in the end, I never intended or set out to do straight up anti-versions of each of the 13 Joes. The netting from Shadow Tracker? I never opened mine, so I went to check, and as it turns out...I didn't own one! The goggles on the heavy hardware troops are pretty tight on the helmets anyway. If you do repaint the blue on the Cobra Troopers, be warned that the Citadel tends to attract more dust. If I were starting from scratch today, I would probably go with Tamiya Flat Blue, with a Satin or Flat varnish/finish. Jason |

I know I am in the minority here, but I love the classic Sunbow cartoon as much as the comic. I have made customs based on both, again I love your stuff!

Thanks for bringing that up. That was an idea I had, and adding a the recent Cobra female to replace the two double ups in the set. That officer guy probably wouldn't be too hard, but having another figure with same buck as the commander ultimately never felt right in my head (unless I could really jazz up the commander). And for the female, that one needs a lot of work first, starting with the right belt/webgear. Someday...
