Thanks to all the Tankers for all the great feedback. Some more pics and full "recipes" on the way this weekend hopefully. Then to the other sets...

Here's the first of some additional pics, notes and recipes:
gCobra_25th_82-2p1_2017-0708ab by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr Cobra Trooper: Basically the same figure and MO of the Hasbro 30th figure—which was a great update by Hasbro as released. My trooper figures are actually repainted DG figures, found on the cheap—since I wanted my 30th trooper figures I bought for the heavy hardware troopers (machine gunner and RPG trooper) for the shoulder insignia. (EDIT: the group picture used repainted DG figures, but I recently got a hold of two extra 30th Anniversary troopers for a cheap price, so switched them out for the pair pics). Recipe: 2013 Dollar General (DG) Cobra Trooper figure; repainted with Citadel Kantor Blue, and Testors Flat Black. Also, for all the of the DG Cobra Trooper base figures used with this set, I re-drilled the head socket closer to the front of the head and propped up the head on the neck peg with a bit of modelling clay so that the head sits up better on the neck and body; added a Cobra Viper backpack; repainted the AK-47 with Citadel Leadbelcher, my go-to dark silver. Cobra Guard: With this figure and MO, I was just looking for a slight variation of the basic Cobra Trooper, as originally I was thinking 8 of 13 of this display set would just be generic troopers to emphasize the “nameless, faceless legions”. I also wanted a version inspired by the original comic books colors (red masks, yellow gear). In my mind, guards are the same as the troopers, just on guard duty, and the figure represents the trooper on-base and rally colors. Recipe: same as my Cobra Trooper, except replaced black with Testors Wood with an additional coating of Citadel Nightshade wash without wiping off (to darken it a bit); added Gonfalon from 2010 POC Cobra Commander. AKS-74 w/ bayonet from loose seller.

Some more pics and notes. Again, thanks for the looks and feedback!
gCobra_25th_82-2p2_2017-0708ab by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr Cobra RPG Trooper: Inspired by the 2008 Cobra Bazooka Trooper, renamed so Larry Hama won’t go off on me. The “Bazooka” concept and the new Hasbro accessories work for me, especially as an analogue to Zap. I preferred that he maintain the same uniform coloring as the rest of the troops, and instead set him apart from the normal troopers with different gear and accessories. Regrettably, I was too scared to try recreating the helmet netting. Recipe: 2011 Cobra Trooper (since webgear covers up chest insignia, wanted the shoulder insignia of the 2011 figure). Head from 2009 Shockblast or 2015 Rock Viper. Goggles from 2015 Shock Trooper. Backpack from 2008 Sgt Bazooka, replacing original missile heads with cut off RPG warheads (not realistically length-accurate, but looks neat from the front). Cobra Machine Gunner: Riffing off the Cobra RPG Trooper, a machine gunner ala Rock’n’Roll and a precursor to the SAW Viper seemed like a no-brainer. However, I didn’t want too many trooper/figure variations for the O13, so he’s the same build as the Cobra RPG Trooper. I see this build (machine gunner and RPG Trooper) as a generic heavy hardware trooper, and from an MO standpoint, similar to that described by the 2008 Bazooka Trooper file card (minimum training, heavy firepower). Recipe: same as Cobra RPG, but with machine gun from 2008 Roadblock and backpack from 2009 Heavy Duty. On both figures, the webgear and weapons have a slight silver dry brush finish. Though I do like to dry brush a lot of customs, for my O13 sets it was kept to a minimum to keep a Hasbro-produced look.

Really cool. Really impressive! Imagine a set like this to go along with the Missile Command HQ, or with a new playset!

OreoBuilder`s excellent Cobra MSV repaint also jives well. I am tempted to try it, if I end up getting the hq.
