Nice. Interesting parts choices. And I consider them different people

Cobra Mortal looks good! Making the silver parts blatantly armor is definitely the way to go. And yeah, I've also thought of the two as seperate Cobra Mortals.

He's BACK AND UPDATING IT!!!!
When I was just getting a bit more serious into collecting moderns, in my second time around, after the first cancer sell off, I found this thread. It was one of the things that spun me onto a path of not only going all in with my own collecting, but it was one of the bigger things that decided it for me, and nudged me along further into starting to make my own stuff as well. (Shouts out to Jon Shiu / Jason Faria, too. I know some of you brothers might still remember him for his Shockwave Army, way early along in the Modern Era's life span. He was another brother just among the many of ya'll who changed me for the better on my Joe Journey and showed the kind of ambition and accomplishment of it I wasn't sure was even possible.) All Hail Captain Hydra, and the return of this legendary project! I always thought that just even trying to go near a project like this, let alone going through with it to see it along as far as he's brought it over time was one of the coolest projects done in the Joe community. One of the coolest things I'd even seen as a project of any sort on the internet at all. In almost 30+ years surfin this MF. As a crafter and builder, the longer I stuck to it in my own pursuits, the more I respected this kind of project better and better as time went on. It's not even about the skill put into it, quality of figures, or anything like that. No matter what you think of the figures themselves. It's the ambition of it, the scale and scope of it, the dedication innately required for it, and the kinda love one has to have for Joes (er... COBRA!!!) in order to even get down with it as long as CH has and as comprehensively as he's taken it. That's what I think has always amazed me most about it. And the understanding of those things just has only gotten deeper or stronger as I moved along and leveled myself up, in both my own crafting and collecting, but as I even got older in life. You guys know full well. A lot of you guys do. Our joes can be a preeeettty important thing and parts of our lives, and who we are, who those little kids we used to be grew up to be here reading this now. Often, this stuff is much more than just some plastic and paint. To a lot of us. Things like this is just one of those unspoken testaments and love letters to our hobby that are undeniably ice cold coolest. I just have difficulty sometimes encompassing all these things when mentioning it. I know many many brothers have been amazed and inspired by this project over the years and what the project has managed to bring to life. No dick riding or star fucking, I mean, we're all in this hobby together. Very cool to know it's back. Glad to see Hydra back at it and updating after the hiatus. Just so many props. One of the HT legends imo, and we're gonna get to see more of what he's been up to. Cooler than wind. Harder than cold steel. And it Soooo charges my creativity banks and fills the inspiration meter to near max levels. Thanks for that CH. You keep on keepin on. We'll be watchin. A cool thing about some of the international releases is that some of the troop builder figures were released as individuals or in other cases a Joe would become a Cobra or vice versa. Maligno is one of those characters. The Brazilian release of the v1 Toxo-viper features slightly different coloring, but more importantly is an individual character. As you may have guessed "maligno" translates to "Malignant", while his file card roughly translats to the following:
"The indiscriminate killing of animals with the use of sophisticated weapons led the commandos to a forest reserve. As they suspected, it was the cruel Maligno who was located by the shots of his long-range rifle. Soon a terrible sound of battle dominated the entire park. Maligno attacking with his machine gun and his laser pistol, he managed to give the Commandos a lot of work But luckily he was subdued and light to flee Since he was a child Maligno has always liked to live in the midst of mess and dirt and mistreat animals, enemy number one of the environment, he lives polluting the air and waters doing work on command while the Cobras act." I built him on a Dragonsky base with custom cast parts. |
