Haha..I was so intrigued by the pictures that I didn't even notice. So, the figure came in that base color from Vortious Customs? Gotta check it out.

If you order from Vortious, just make sure you sit back and relax on shipping. These are not stock items, so sometimes it takes a considerable amount of time to get. In hindsight, I should have just painted a figure. But thanks for the comments!! Jason |

Re: Stinger Driver:
This is a great take on the figure. The darker grey you use helps to blend these guys in more with the 82 to 84 figures, and reminds me of that sharp looking vehicle gunner from the Target Battle Pack. I myself really wanted to go with a darker grey with my sets, but for reasons I felt I had to stay closer to the originals--so I enjoy seeing how the darker version would actually look like. Also, much gratitude for the how-to, and sources for the helmet and torso--I did not know about these great pieces. I have ordered from Vort but that took more than 2 months to ship--but at least they did ship. The legs look fine as shown--but the modern line has spoiled us with neat leg straps and holsters and hip pouches. I guess if you line up a bunch of your figures together, you may want to change them up--but maybe leave them as shown for a little variety as well (the kneepads are better, and the feet are better for standing)? Re: Baroness: I like your first version the best! Probably no surprise because it's the most classic based, but mostly because it has the best head+hair combo for the body. My aesthetic prefers a smaller head in relation to the body, but I think the larger volume of hair balances things out. Also looks the best when doing the squint-eye test. The second version looks fun, and is a good test show for the MTF head. My suggestion would be to hit the light grey with some wash (to get a match with your greys from the Stinger Driver), and may gear her up more as a nod to the never released ponytailed POC concept version? Massive_Black_2_04 | Concept Art World Somebody else suggested painting the frames of the Book Worm glasses black. I'm gonna try that and see if it improves the look. Originally I wanted the Book Worm glasses on the first head sculpt, but basically ruined a pair trying to get them to work. If I get the glue resin/frost off one of the lenses, I might try another shot at it. With Vortious, I actually had to wait almost a year to get my products (it was a big order). I was very patient and just treated it like it was a "Kick Starter" type order. I was very specific on different color pieces, but in hindsight, it would have been just as easy to paint existing pieces I have in my fodder box. While I'm working through the "Class of 1984" customs, I'm also working on some Cobra Blue Shirt "Viper" customs, similar to your amazing reimagined Cobra figures. Thanks for the comments! Jason |

Today's custom is a bit of an homage to HissHissFangFan's amazing reimagined Cobra Customs - the Cobra Motor Viper Officer!!
This was a basic parts swap, except for that stupid right thigh! That thing was a pain to split! It was like it got welded together when originally packaged. Anyhow, The upper body is the 50th Viper Officer and the legs are from the Retaliation Firefly with the funky jacket. The grey plastics are different shades, so I gave the figure a wash in a dark grey to try to blend the pieces together. I also changed out the swivel/rocker hands with just some generic swivel-joint hands because I think the original hands just look odd with those gauntlets (maybe the gauntlets need to be recessed in a bit). The head is from the red Resolute Cobra Trooper to kind of go with the red gauntlets. And the helmet is from ebay user cobra1678. Doesn't look like he currently has those head & helmet cast for sale, but trust me, they are the best looking Cobra Officer helmets to date. The raised edges of the Officer insignia are just enough to paint around to give nice straight lines. Comments and critiques greatly appreciated! Jason |

I love the idea and execution of the Stinger Officer. From a toy standpoint it's nice to have a variant of the driver to fill the passenger seat. The filecard also feels so Hasbro. Is the face mask red? If so, maybe you can get the gauntlets and mask to match with a dark wash on those gauntlets. But keeping the red was a good idea.
The only other thing I would change is my callsign: it was always meant to be HissHissFangFang but...character limits apparently. I mean how silly is HissHissFangFan as a name? Doesn't make sense... But seriously thanks for the reference, it means a lot. You sir are always welcome to bring some of my toys into your playground. |

Yeah the mask is dark red (almost brown) from the Red Resolute Cobra Trooper. I'll take you up on darkening the gauntlets. A wash in brick red should do the trick. I also need to add some "action poses" to my photos to make them more interesting. Thanks for the comments. Jason |

Found out that cobra1678 from ebay is actually a fellow Tanker here on the forums! I'll let him introduce himself, if he wants.

Here is my custom 50th Zartan! This build is based off of The Odinson's cool custom, except I kept a more original, ARAH, look for Zartan's pants.
I had to Dremel and swap the neck post from Gen Hawk to get Zartan's head to look right on the POC Beach Head torso. Dry brushed the armor, painted the ribbed shirt black, and the pelvis brick/maroon to match the pants. Zartan includes a mix of weapons and accessories that fit all of his characteristics & fighting skills from the old Marvel comics series. The hinged back pack/case if from ROC Zartan. The other back pack is a custom from a Snake Eyes back pack/sword sheath and Spirit's quiver with the feathered arrow ends painted brick/maroon to match Zartan's color scheme. I did a wash and added black lines to the upper eyes of the goatee mask to make it look less bug-eyed. Will probably swap it out with the original ARAH mask. The Chameleon handlebars are from a SW Clone Wars Speeder Bike. I carefully, hand Dremeled the holes in the end. The plastic is very flexible. I like that these handle bars have the shifter cables molded with them. The systems display is some sort of communication accessory that snaps onto a figures arm. I'm thinking it came from a Valor vs Venom or Spy Troops figure. Schematics for my custom Chameleon. The rear ink sprayer is not bent. That's just the result of a weird (bird's eye) camera angle. Comments, suggestions, and critiques encouraged and welcome! Jason G.I. Joe Revisited |
