Sorry, I missed the third question.
I'll have pics compared to a 3 3/4 once some of the recently ordered prints hit their buyers. The coating is an option that Shapeways gives. It serves for both aesthetic and improves durability, particularly as a waterproof sealant. The colored sandstone material prints the color directly into the material, but the ink is water-soluble. I give it as an option, but a couple of layers of gloss-coat will provide the same effect. As for whether they're ready to go, Shapeways functions under a print-on-demand system, similar to Redbubble or Cafepress. When you make your purchase Shapeways manufactures the item and sends it directly to you. Full color sandstone prints tend to arrive about a week to ten days after purchase. |

This real life pic might help others see that this particular Joe arcade game was built in a smaller cabinet to begin with, so the large 4" should do it:

The arcade cabinets are cool, but not $50 cool. That's crazy.

I look at it this way: could I make one for under the cost (money AND time) to purchase?
The answer is no. $50 is crazy? Then I went Bat-$--- crazy and spent $70. I totally get it...but if there is a rare accessory that I REALLY want, it's not crazy to me. Well, no crazier than paying the same price for three identical female Cobra troopers, outside of a different hair color (I bought those, too, lol). Only expensive accessory purchases to this point: 1. Arcade LARGE/4" for $70 coated 2. Cobra Commander throne chair by Serpent 11 (?) for a price in the ballpark. Maybe $90? I just think they are really cool conversation pieces. Now hopefully, the arcade piece looks stellar upon arrival...

So just to clarify, if I order the G.I. Joe one, it will come with all the coloring of the G.I. Joe pictures on it? I don't have to paint it? I know that might sound silly, but I've bought stuff before from Shapeways and when I got it, I had to do the custom paint job on it. HA! I was very surprised that it didn't look like the picture.

Four new weapons, available in 3mm grip/4" figure scale, are now up on the Shapeways store, along with the accessories already uploaded. This is a set of fantasy weapons that would work great with Vitruvian HACKS. |
