Hello!
I've been lurking and commenting on great customs for a while, so I figured its put up or shut up time for me. While I've tried customs several years ago, as well as some models, this is my first real completed custom(I get bored or give up) and I'm pretty pleased with it. As soon as I saw these jerks in Pyramid of Darkness, I was in love, and had to make one. They are about the most baffling and insane thing in Joe history. I don't even know if they are robots or organic or alien, it is NEVER explained. I can't believe I haven't seen one on here yet. It is an old X-men Colossus base, with arms and legs viciously hacked from a horrible ghost rider villain, dremeled and attached, then sculpted to blend in. The head, face, horns, feet, and body fur are entirely sculpted, I could'nt cheat there, and then completely brush painted all over. I tried to up the detail and realism of the design, while remaining faithful to the ridiculous cartoonish appearance. A bonus was that since they randomly have 3 or 4 fingers in different frames, I could do whichever I wanted. Anyway, please enjoy! I hope this makes you smile. Or furious. There is no middle ground. Here's links to the creatures I've made since this one, until I figure out albums. http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...r-monster.html http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...er-series.html http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...loon-bear.html Last edited by snakeeyes22; 03-12-2010 at 09:09 PM.. Haha, wow, this thing is fantastic. Wonderful job with the sculpting and painting. This is definitely a strange character, and I too am totally baffled if it's machine, animal, both, or just something from the aftermath of a Dr. Mindbender all-night bender.
Did you use anything for the eyes, or were those sculpted completely too? Same thing with the mouth, is that from scratch, or did you use some other pieces of plastic for the teeth? |

That looks very professional.
I just use the Prince Caspian Minotaurs as Fatal Fluffies. Yeah, the writers of "Pyramid of Darkness" were high as hell during the creative process, I bet. |

Did you use anything for the eyes, or were those sculpted completely too? Same thing with the mouth, is that from scratch, or did you use some other pieces of plastic for the teeth? To everyone! The face is entirely Super-Sculpey which has been sitting around unused for like a decade. I would have preferred to try a better material, like that Green Stuff I read about, but I stuck with what I had. Because I am cheap. Besides Colossus, just used amputated and modified lower legs and arms from a beat up loose Toy Biz guy to save time sculpting som of the fur. Because I am lazy. The eyes do have a gloss-coat. And I did sculpt the teeth individually. Because I have OCD/possible insanity! |
