Seriously, I still enjoy just going back through this whole thread and reading all the bios and looking at the great work.

NEW RECRUITS!!!!! WAR MACHINE EDITION!!!!!
#241/W1. SUPREME COMMANDER (based on the movie War Machine/GI Joe: Cobra Commander) ASP Origin: Unknown WAR MACHINE 2010 You've probably never heard or seen the 2010 movie G.I. ウォー (GI War) aka "WAR MACHINE." filmed in the USA & Dominican Republic. It's a mockbuster of the GI Joe/ROC movie & was released in the USA on Amazon Prime via stream/DVD & in Japan on DVD. After seeing the trailer, my interest was peaked, and although long gone from the Amazon & US online purchase platforms, I hunted down a new/sealed copy from Japan, and oh boy it's a hoot! Without spoiling to much within this batch of "New Recruits" I can tell you the movie is light on story, zero on code names, plays a mostly rap/rock soundtrack, has pretty good fight scenes (especially the hand to hand combat), cheap effects, & plenty of boobs! With that said, I have no doubt that many fans here would prefer this film to the actual Hollywood Joe movies lol. I'm a huge film collector, & after seeing this movie it fits into my "so bad it's good" category... and I am glad to own this strange GI Joe flavored anomaly. So of course, I needed to make an alternate universe based on just the movie itself in figure form for "MY MTF U" lol. Trailer: (possibly NSFW) Hard to believe I have done 225+ MTF figures & this is the FIRST Cobra Commander style figure to join the ranks! Like SS & SE, we got a LOT of CC in the Modern Era, so with my original intent to avoid doing the over saturated characters & create my own more-obscure line up, CC was always just a long distance possibility. With that said, the options to do a CC to my liking in MTF also did not seem really viable with the current catalog. And a lot of that came down to a proper head, as I am not a big fan of just plopping a head from the Modern Era Joes on any ole' body and saying this is "Roadblock" now because it has a retail Roadblock head on it... (no offense anyone)... I needed to find a way that fit "My MTF Universe" vision. When I decided I was going to make MTF figures based on "War Machine," the "Supreme Commander" really needed to be a part of that roster, so this was my opportunity to visit "CoCo" for the first time lol. Because the heads available through MGR did not suit the recreation planned, I started looking into other options, but was not finding much in 1:18th, so I had to finally turn to official means. I very much liked the look of the wind blown removable hood on the VvV CC (v20), and bought one loose hoping for the best. It fit the MGR balaclava head and I started building CC with the blue MGR German body. In the War Machine movie, Supreme Commander has like these shoulder taperings, and I found the perfect compliment on AVAC'S LAB website. When it arrived, Coby's cast fit like a glove! Not only do I love how this one turned out because of how it all magically gelled together by taking a couple chances, but also because he looks a lot like a real world terrorist! I've had this one finished for awhile & have been jonesing to post him lol! *The War Machine figures are a close amalgamation of the movie & some personal touches that stay true to the characters referenced, as the costumes are challenging to 100% emulate with the uniqueness of some of the film's design. ...Also a new Dio background to help emulate the setting in some of the movie! *The bios will be brief as to not spoil the movie if anyone was interested in ever seeing it. The leader of a previously unknown terrorist group identified as ASP, the SUPREME COMMANDER has been described as the new Hitler! His liberation armies target... Corporate America! He aims to take over as the new leader of the free world and have the world tremble at the sight again of the American flag with the promise of a new "Golden Age!" One of the COMMANDER'S operatives is now sending weapons to a shipping board in the Caribbean, it's up to the FIRST SARGENT'S Elite Strike Force to stop the transport and engage the enemy! MTF: WAR MACHINE: 1. SUPREME COMMANDER 2. SABOTEUR 3. ENVOY 4. RANGER 5. ASP TROOPER 6. MASTER SERGENT (coming 2021!) 7. WHITE NINJA (coming soon!) 8. FIRST SARGENT (coming soon!) #242/W2. SABOTEUR (based on the movie War Machine/GI Joe: Firefly)
ASP Origin: Ukraine WAR MACHINE 2010 Like much of the cast, the Firefly character goes unnamed in the movie, so we're going to use what seemed to be the standard: using rank/specialties in place of real code names lol. The actor they chose may not be what you would think of as a good fit for FF, but he pulls off some of the most impressive stunts in the film, and engages the Duke character in 2 confrontations masterfully. His costume fluctuates in color on screen, sometimes looking classic gray, sometimes blueish, sometimes hints of green, it's hard to tell because the movie uses a lot of filters, (both color & scratches), but I believe gray was the most consistent color throughout (& also the classic color association), so I went with that. Firefly has the distinction of being the Cobra character that I have recreated the most of within this thread... he always finds a way lol. SABOTEUR engages the FIRST SARGENT in the woods for their first confrontation. Then again under the guise of a tourist in town for another explosive match! |

#243/W3. ENVOY (based on the movie War Machine/GI Joe: Scarlett)
ELITE STRIKE FORCE Origin: USA WAR MACHINE 2010 THE ENVOY played by former Price Is Right model Ute Werner, has a small role in the film as the FIRST SARGENT'S informant for the mission. I've built several homages to Scarlett in this thread, & being one of my very favorite Joes, I'm always happy to build another! In the movie she has a very stylish military look, (t-shirt, backwards holstered gun, etc)... So as simple as this construction is, adding the Contract-Ops legs for a more baggy fatigues look & dog tags from the amazing AVAC'S LAB, really made for a fun clean build that pops on the shelf! ENVOY comes to the FIRST SARGENT'S residence to inform him that he has been selected for a mission to stop the SUPREME COMMANDER. Rejoining again after his acceptance at the naval base, she informs him to pick his team with no limits with orders from the GENERAL. Last edited by Steel Brigade; 10-04-2021 at 12:57 PM.. |

#244/W4. RANGER (based on the movie War Machine/GI Joe: Beach Head)
ELITE STRIKE FORCE Origin: USA WAR MACHINE 2010 The unnamed Ranger character is one of the best played in the film, as there is a clear tribute to the "Raw Hides" segment from the 1987 animated movie that he plays with similar gusto... & with BH being void from the Hollywood adaptations, his appearance here is a treat. My only qualm is that his costume could use some tightening, as his bare neck shows often with the balaclava on and makes him look kinda low rent lol. This is the first traditional colored BH I've built for this thread, a combo of trooper & contract-ops parts. Added to the arms for movie accuracy are an MTF Ranger sticker & American flag sticker (in replacement of the confederate one he has in the film!) Once again the dog tags were supplied by the mighty AVAC'S LAB to complete the look! RANGER is training new recruits when he is selected by the FIRST SARGENT to join his ELITE STRIKE FORCE. He will be confronted by the WHITE NINJA during the operation & later he will battle the ASP TROOPERS (including one with a sledge hammer!) while trying to stop the WOMAN IN CHARGE'S sex slave trade! |

#245/W5. ASP TROOPER (based on the movie War Machine/GI Joe: Cobra Trooper)
ASP Origin: Various WAR MACHINE 2010 The Enemy Troops show up in the movie at various stages with some minor variations in their costumes. I enjoyed some of the more unique looking ones that had more of a sunglasses & mask/scarf look and based my build mostly on them. This provided a more unique construction than the couple of Cobra Troopers already made within this thread, and actually ended up taking some build queues from my Sgt. Savage Storm Trooper homage! The ASP TROOPERS are the backbone of the new liberation army under the SUPREME COMMANDER. They face off with the members of the ELITE STRIKE FORCE usually getting bested by the talents of the heroic team... until member RANGER finds a formidable match with one TROOPER that comes down to a chase through town, followed by a fight with a sledge hammer! |

Steel Brigade.
Loved the trailer. That is some quality cheese. Thank you for the smile I'm carrying right now. Your builds continue to be A+ work in my book. Great job. And please consider your Asp Trooper recipe stolen. |
