#64 CODE NAME: YAKU (based on the ARAH character "Jinx" 2002 concept)
Marauder Task Force
Origin: Japan

Jinx has become one of my favorite Joe characters over the past 20 years. Loved her original figure as a kid & appearance in the movie - I am so glad to see that she has become a more prominent Joe character in media. As for her introduction into my MTF Universe I wanted to make a unique version and based it on the JVC concept art from 2002. The red katana comes from a freebie from Marauder's - a real nice surprise as I was looking for one more weapon for her & this was perfect! The heroine of Season 3, Jinx has a lot to overcome with her past coming back to haunt her!

YAKU means "disaster" in Japanese...and that's kind of been the story of her life. She has had a lot of failures in life, academics, jobs, love, friendships, but most of all luck. Trouble always seems to follow her and those around her, and though reluctant to join Squad 87Z at first - the MTF higher-ups convinced her that her knowledge dealing with the mutants prior from Mission B.E.T. (the only member of MTF Squad 87Z that has) make her a most valuable asset. But YAKU was chosen not just for her knowledge, but also for the one thing she has always been good at, her martial arts skills. As she is acting as a close contact defender on the team. Before the mission went underway she traveled back to her homeland to obtain the "Akai Katana" (or Red Sword) from her clan - a fabled blade that can slay the demons from Jigoku (Hell). Given to young YAKU as a gift, she does not take her new destiny lightly, and knows how much possible death and sickness awaits!

If you had Steel Brigade as a kid, it was your opportunity to make yourself part of the Joe Team! I loved this concept & figure & code named him HOT SHOT. I always saw him as a solitary "Gary Stu" (male "Mary Sue" equivelant) as he was me and I was unstoppable lol! I named him "Hot Shot" and could easily defeat Cobra with all of my skills, that included Martial Arts, weapon expertise, and a cool helmet lol. Used often in my childhood Joe adventures, this was my chance to bring me back as a "unique" character again in my MTF Universe, and when I decided that the main team of Season 3 was going to feature all 1987 characters, Steely B was a natural choice! I have to say I love how this figure turned out, and the combination of parts really does make him look like the attributed figure. The M.E. Steel Brigade was one of the best of the line - but when building my new "Ultimate Version" - I felt very inspired & he is one my absolute favorite recreations to date! My youngest brother saw this build & said "Wow you sure did make yourself look cool." lol.

HOT SHOT is the METAL BRIGADE Commander, a support team of specialists & reservists tasked to back up the MTF. Unlike the other specially requested members, he volunteered for this mission, not for the danger, not for the quest, not for the unique experience, but to hang out with his blood brothers SKYBUSTER & CHOPIN & to hit on the very single YAKU. He was accepted on the task force not because he is mostly a wildcard that seems to do the minimum and still get the maximum effect, but because the volunteer roster was so low, (and with the troops spread thin with all of the other terrorist efforts going on globally), that HOT SHOT was it. With that said he comes will equipped in true soldier geek fashion and was the only member smart enough to bring a shovel... so he could dig his own grave!

#66 CODE NAME: SKYBUSTER (based on the ARAH character "Starduster")
Marauder Task Force
Origin: USA

Starduster is another childhood favorite. When I made myself the Steel Brigade character, my 2 brothers wanted in on the action and chose 2 other more obscure 1987 characters & made Starduster & Crazylegs their Joe incarnations. The figure was mildly challenging to put together for his classic look, as a super light blue colorway is not available, so a close approximation of combining in the MTF "strato ops" and white camo really got the look more accurate & I think looks like an awesome tribute to the original. A lot of thought went into this one, some MTF freebies used where the rolled up sleeves and cool blue visor. Little flourishes like the large green pocket are there to indicate the classic pocket patrol! I asked my brother for input on recreating him which was fun. The Vanguard head actually looks like him. lol

SKYBUSTER is the MTF's Infantry Transportable Air Recon Specialist. Fascinated with the latest gear (and a retro lover of the 80's decade), he's been Tasked with flying in MTF Squad 87Z as well as being their air to land short burst mutant finder by using his state of the art MTF Seeker Jet Pack that only him and a few other mainland members have been authorized on. Intelligent, soft spoken, but with a hair trigger reaction that can erupt in combat, he brought his signature Walther P-38 & AK with grenade launcher which he is an expert with, & gives him the confidence that he's in control of any hostile situation!

#67 CODE NAME: CHOPIN (based on the ARAH character "Crazylegs")
Marauder Task Force
Origin: USA

For Season 3 I wanted to go all out and recreate ULTIMATE versions of the characters! Truth be told I never liked the M.E. Version of Crazylegs, he was a weird combo of parts and looked squat and had a lackluster head choice. At first I was going to recreate him in my MTF Universe as the "Night Force" version (I skipped the Club's), but being another childhood favorite of my brothers and I, my youngest sibling said the red version was the one he more identified with, and not liking Hasbro's offering I was easily convinced that I could improve upon him. My brother chose some of his pack-out as he likes air soft and it made for a fun collaboration!

CHOPIN got his code name for his musical talent, but even with his natural talent for music and art, it was more of a past time, as he didn't want to stay put. He joined the Airborne Rangers to live the adventure & get over his fear of heights. Now he loves jumping into a hot zone fully loaded with his favorite gear and seeing how many targets he can check off. CHOPIN was chosen for Squad 87Z as the man to get the troops off the air transport and into the dangerous mountain landing, he is has been cross-trained as a forward artillery spotter and will be directing the firefight if they come in contact with the rogue military group or the spore infested mutants. His orders are to take out both, even the civilians if the infestation is past the recognized stage 1.

Thanks for the awesome feedback everyone! I built all these guys (& a few others) a couple months back and have been looking forward to showing them off after more of Season 2's roster debuted! Always more to come!
