You made me check my count.....182! So I?m getting close to a milestone as well! I have a bunch more built.....just not a complete custom until I do a photoshoot & post it. I?ll need Vietnam to come out in order to get close to 350. Haha. You might be working on 500 when those parts are in hand.
Ooh, Swamp Viper will be an awesome add to your storyline! Really loved that repaint of AVAC, awesome that you tracked down his test shot as well! Was looking at a bunch of prototype stuff on the Kokomo Toys eBay page. I agree, I definitely need to add AVAC to my list of customs in some way. Probably an original 90?s style design! That would be a fun one. Haha, it was done tastefully so you totally made it work! Plus it fit with the other original characters that you?ve been introducing in the latest part of the story. Always entertaining to see where you take things and how the original characters & homages fit in! 182 is an amazing accomplishment bro! Looking forward to a 200 celebration post from you! Mr H. wants me to get to 500 figures too lol, well I think I can guarantee 400 with everything I have in the works (+ Vietnam etc.) no problem lol! I guess my roadmap is actually 50 at at time! Yeah Kokomo Toys has a bunch of test shots & interesting stuff for collectors on their eBay right now! Thanks again for the kind words my friend, I'm glad I was able to make "The Sacrifice" work & that she has garnered some attention with the beauty of her simplicity. =) I am currently working on the next 3 rounds of "New Recruits," for October, November, & December... there is so much more to come! |

Bro, hope you had an awesome birthday celebration! Congrats on # 350 milestone! Planning ahead, consistency and dedication led to this. You've been doing such fine work with all of your recruits and this latest round is no exception.
Definitely one of my preferred Destro versions and your execution here is quite impressive! More so when using bin parts and then finishing it off with BF/AWOK accessories. Really like it and now want to plan my own after seeing how those parts/piece mesh so well together. Truly love your Voltar custom, choice of accessories, head/helmet and subtle paint touches are all spot on. This build can't get better aesthetically that's for sure! Your creatively runs endlessly and that's also recognizing when less is more like in the case of MIKI which I find to be an ingenious concept from the build itself to the idea of integrating said character to the ongoing fight against the demon god. Who would have known that she'd make an invaluable member of the SHUTENDOJI CULT? Beautiful and a very much creative twist in that story. I can tell AVAC was a childhood favorite just by seeing how meticulously executed this figure is. Great detail on thought out / planned out custom. I have to say I love the repro head you've acquired through eBay, it helps to have your well trusted sources of parts stand by as that saves you time from time consuming experiments as you plan your next builds. Don't get me wrong experimenting is good but given the vast sources of 3D printed parts on the web, it helps to narrow down those dependable merchants early on. Mosquito is another favorite! The shades of green you utilized paid off here. Stellar build and that Black Major helmet is just awesome! Excellent round of builds man! Already look forward to the next one! lol Last edited by paokole; 09-10-2022 at 12:44 PM.. |

Already look forward to the next one! lol Also on Miki/The Sacrifice... fun fact, her name is very popular in Japan so I decided to call her that because it shows up often in manga, anime, movies, & even bands I listen to. I felt that if she was just another "Miki" in a world of Mikis, even a beautiful girl would feel plain, or could get lost in the shuffle, & that could play into her feeling more like a number than an important individual, which is how the Cult could prey on her to give her a sense of self-worth. It's true what you say about reliability in casters, painters, etc. ...As you know what they make is quality, will get it to you in a timely fashion, & will work every time for your projects, (even if you have to make adjustments) ...& you appreciate that so much when the final comes into fruition, that it just all works for you! Thanks again man, you always write up some great feedback for me & I truly appreciate it! I just finished another character of the October figures, & I am happily working on all the others for the rest of 2022! |

#347/138. GENERAL GYPS (based on G.I. Joe ARAH '88: Destro's General - Voltar)
M.A.R.S. Origin: Poland Season 9 I was inspired to build my own Voltar after seeing a recent set of Iron Grenadiers customs on social media. We had him growing up & I have been looking to add more to my M.A.R.S./I.G. ranks. Thought it was time to give him a go with the Destro (pictured above) already being in the works. I went back in forth with a purple vs. tan (replacing gold) chest plate, but eventually thought more color is better than mostly all one color for this crazy looking General. Helmet is from eBay caster (I did the red eye)... head/sword/scabbard/and belt (one of my favorite parts of this build) are Boss Fight. GENERAL GYPS, the mercenary commander, is so good at his job that governments would fight over him with the highest bidder choosing his role in their dirty work. Eventually they tired of his increasing prices & high demand during the "Future War" & opted to have him assassinated instead, so that no one could use him. Their attempts failed, & WAR MASTER hired him while on the run, to be be his permanent private military's general. Which gave M.A.R.S. militia instant threat credibility on their first outing. Some say he is lucky, others say he is a genius... all say he is victorious! As a side note...I've got to stop taking extended breaks b/c I have a ton of catching up when I return.

Another great batch, but the Voltar homage jumped onto my list as a favorite that you've done. I had him as a kid and knew nothing about him but just thought he was really cool. Great job capturing the vintage look yet adding your own touch as always.
As a side note...I've got to stop taking extended breaks b/c I have a ton of catching up when I return. Thanks buddy! Glad you liked the drop... especially the Voltar homage! Yeah it's true... when you take those breaks ...As you have some friends here (like myself) that are just trying to keep up with you! |

NEW RECRUITS!!!!!
#351/142. CUT THROAT (based on G.I. Joe Sigma 6: Machete) Neo-Noks Origin: Thailand Season 10 Needed 1 more 'Nok to have those even number rosters that I like in my ranks, & decided to go with a deep cut choosing Machete. Inspired to use a Boss Fight build again (like I did with the Zartan homage) I thought this Naga Fred head was a great representation of how he looked in the S6 animation & comics, then built the rest off of those visuals. CUT-THROAT grew up in Pattani, the poorest providence in Thailand, but learned kickboxing at a young age from his uncle fighting his way to get to Bangkok. There, he found that working outside the ring was more lucrative than working inside... In the "Wet World," options became increasingly unstable & he went looking for steady work with pirates, which eventually lead him to the the NEO-NOKS "Battle Royale." His ferocity actually won him the final tournament that few in the past have, with his use of his trademark machete. This was enough alone to make ZEUS realize that this guy was better on his team than off of it & he offered him sanctuary, work, & family. The other members think he is just crazy & hate working with him, also he has taken a liking to SUKEBAN... which she does not appreciate. THE NEO-NOKS (formerly the DREADNOKS) 1. POSEIDON ver. 1 & ver. 2 2. ROAD KILL 3. SUKEBAN 4. BITTERSWEET (coming soon!) 5. THRASH METAL (coming soon!) 6. SCORCH (coming soon!) 7. MEDUSA 8. BONECRUSHER 9. ZEUS 10. ARTEMIS 11. EL CAMINO 12. #352/V4. CRIMSON MOON W.O.R.M.S. (a Red Shadows take on Cobra W.O.R.M.S.)
Crimson Moon Origin: various 'NAM 19XX We have some great offerings coming from FMF Eagle Force etc. soon to build up our "starting" modern era Red Shadows collections! But I still want to create some of my own Red Shadows inspired characters to help flesh out the ranks with those existing figures that are hopefully coming soon. I bought this Black Major W.O.R.M.S. helmet on ebay to do just that, a take on a Red Shadows version of W.O.R.M.S. Using almost entirely parts-bin parts & adding a couple things, (like a Toy Hax emblem sticker) to finish the look... this was a fun one. My brothers & I had W.O.R.M.S. & the Maggot growing up, so it was fun adding him finally to my MTF Universe. With how poorly this particular helmet came packaged to me in the mail, I was relieved that the antenna was still 100% mint on arrival! When COBRA abandons their bases set up all over the world due to defeat or ending conflict, their exit is often quick enough that there is always some evidence of their activities. As such, they use a third party cleaning crew to go in & "mop-up" as not to revisit their old whereabouts. In recent times, the third party has been acquired by CRIMSON MOON, (unbeknownst to COBRA) & their clean up means confiscating any salvageable materials for their own terrorist legions. Such is the case of the CRIMSON MOON W.O.R.M.S. battalion. MAGGOTS repaired & refurbished for 4-man crews working heavy artillery tanks, & uniforms repurposed & recolored for those men working the tanks. All a part of CRIMSON MOON'S plan of replacing COBRA using their own equipment by using a rebranded (yet familiar) form of chaos! Last edited by Steel Brigade; 10-24-2022 at 02:02 PM.. |

#353/143. K-SLICE
Shutendoji Cult Origin: ?Switzerland? Shinjuku Demon Parade *Marauder Geared-Up figure+ Despite some great offerings, I don't buy very many "Geared-Up" figures these days, mostly because I have already made versions of most of the characters that are currently offered. When "K-Slice" first dropped, I thought he was original & cool, so I grabbed one. When I got him in, I found his pack out to be very fidley, so I added 4 extra shuriken to double up & help pad the pockets, plus side armor panels to fill the empty ports, & a head band to make him look more ninja-y. I'm guessing his naming convention comes from K-Swiss sneakers lol. There are many theories as to where K-SLICE came from, some say he was a former ALLEY CAT COMMANDO that was abandoned during a mission in Japan, others say he was a martial arts actor from Switzerland that couldn't find work when crossing the border & landed with the Yakuza. What people do know is that he is a highly skilled fighting gaijin, a master of edged weapons, & the SHUTENDOJI DEMON CULT LEADER'S body guard... always by his side... protecting... & has made short work of anyone who is a threat to his employer... #354/144. AZUMI (from the 2020 Stage Play "Azumi : Sengoku-hen " aka Azumi : Warring States Arc)
Neutral Origin: Japan Shinjuku Demon Parade *Japanese Anti/Heroines series Azumi, if you like jidaigeki/kunoichi movies, is among Japan's very best. Most movies of this ilk starring female leads are usually just for cheap thrills (which I love), but it's nice to see the occasional effort made that is not just for the V-Cinema fans like myself. Azumi (& it's sequel) are both based after the popular manga & even had a release in the United States on DVD back in the early 00's & is considered a cult classic among enthusiasts. I've loved the films for like forever, & even have a MIB 1/12 scale Azumi figurine based on the first film. I've had her character on my Japanese Anti-Heroines (she is an assassin) List since the beginning, wanting to do an Azumi homage from the movie, but I don't think the parts available are quite there yet for me. I was inspired again to revisit Azumi earlier his year when I bought a DVD of the 2020 Stage Play from Japan that was made starring actress Yui Imaizumi. Her costume resembling more of the manga look, I found a way to recreate that look using Boss Fight. But she got put on hiatus after entirely building the body, because Azumi is special to me, & I wanted to find just the right head. After many months, one I really liked for her (resembling star Yui Imaizumi) dropped from a Chinese seller I like to use, & I finally I had my Azumi complete! Before Japan mostly sunk below sea level, AYA enjoyed a career in entertainment. Her latest role was a long stint in "AZUMI THE PLAY," a manga story interpretation about an assassin tasked with killing the evil Tonosama in control & preventing the outbreak of a civil war. At a young age, AYA studied martial arts for years & continued to do so in order to make her long planned tenure with the character of AZUMI even more convincing on stage. Now, in this new world, her career is over, but still feeling a mad sense of purpose, the actress decided to abandon AYA & actually become the character of AZUMI. Instead of an assassin looking to end a war, she became a vigilante ending crimes & corruption all over parts of existing Tokyo. Her reputation became well known, & she was the first recruited, serving as a second in command to KIKU'S girl fighters gang, looking to stop the Demon Veil from being opened. *Japanese Anti/Heroines series roster: 1. GALLY (Battle Angel Alita) 2. RIKA (Zombie Hunter Rika) 3. RIN (Mutant Girl Squad) 4. REI (Mutant Girl Squad) 5. YOSHIE (Mutant Girl Squad) 6. SNOW WOMAN YUKI (Snow Woman from Japanese folklore + urban legend + movies) 7. VAMPIRE GIRL MONAMI (Vampire Girl from Vampire Girl VS. Frankenstein Girl) 8. SAYA (Dekotora Truck Gal series homage) 9. MACHINE GIRL AMI (Machine Girl from Rise Of The Machine Girls) 10. KIKU (The Abashiri Family - Live Action) 11. BLACK RAT ASUKA (Black Rat) 12. SLIT-MOUTHED WOMAN (Japanese folklore + urban legend + movies) 13. SAKI (OneChanbara) 14. BLACK FOX (Black Fox: Age Of The Ninja) 15. SHOCKER COMBATANT(S) (Kamen Rider) 16. AZUMI (Azumi 2020 Stage Play version) 17. JAPANESE NEW MYSTERY FILM GIRL (coming soon!) 18. JAPANESE NEW MYSTERY FILM GIRL (coming soon!) Last edited by Steel Brigade; 10-24-2022 at 02:06 PM.. |

#355/145. SCRAPPER (based on G.I. Joe DTC '05: Scrap Iron)
Wrath Origin: USA aka ZOMBIE SCRAPS Season 10 October is the spooky month, so I fast tracked this version of Scrap-Iron when inspiration struck! I've had Scrap Iron in my sites for a long while now, & we have some seen some great takes on him built using MGR parts around the web. I wanted to go a bit more unique on him for my first round, even though I had his classic version built a few times in my head. Then when reviewing his figures over the years, I thought the 2005 version was a great way to make a unique homage to him by incorporating the exo-suit. Since Scrap Iron has that torn-up face in many iterations, I thought that the FMF zombie head would be perfect here ...As it's beat to give him that battle ravaged look, but not so mutilated (like most of the other zombie heads offered in this scale.) Let's make it perfectly clear MASTERMIND despises SCRAPPER, a former product designer turned explosives expert from M.A.R.S. industries... SCRAPPER is treacherous, conniving, & is more concerned about his job being high art than purely explosive destruction. His methodical mind gets results, but is also so over thought that it can be late on arrival. Over the years SCRAPPER has had many...accidents, his face is a reflection of this. Lately it seems that he is sent on missions more on autopilot to be a mindless destructive decoy than a serviceable soldier. Some say he (mostly) died a long time ago & he is now an undead corpse being held up in some strangely modified life sustaining system within his exo-suits, repurposed by WRATH scientists... By one ROCKET TROOPER'S account, he is on an amalgamation of his 40th & 41st exo-suit combined! Last edited by Steel Brigade; 08-02-2023 at 06:37 PM.. |
