Haha, appreciate it! I did that Star Brigade Destro, then was all geared up for the next custom and a short detour in reorganizing the collection turned into a long detour in organizing the collection! Haha. Felt like I didn?t hop on Hisstank for a week and next thing I knew it was months!
Lmao! I thought I left comments on that batch but then didn?t see my thread when I was jumping around. Thought Uncle Sam was where I needed to pick up! Can?t wait to dig in! I hear ya! No worries buddy lol, just happy to have you back in this thread! Looking forward to ya diving back in! |

I have to stop taking extended absences from here. Everytime I do you drop some great stuff and then I need to play catch-up.
Wrath...I love the stripped down use of the Marauder mech suit. It looks excellent without being bulky and pulls off the look you were going for. Overall a great update to the Laser Viper. The Police Officer gives me strong Longarm from C.O.P.S. vibes so he works really well with your Bulletproof homage. Wild Bill is probably my favorite of the group. I hate when you drop one like him because I immediately want to copy it yet those parts you used are not cheap, so I'll just admire yours and use the 25th version for my WB. The choice to go with the Calvary Officer head is perfect.

Yeah I try not to "cut corners" even when things are pricey or are out of stock, the hardest part is the wait on those "perfect parts" to complete a character! But I hear ya... glad you like the "Wild Bill" that much! ;-) |

Haha, Uncle SAM is fantastic! I was wondering who would be the first to come up with something inventive enough to use that Uncle Sam head and I should have known it would be SB via exo suit parts! Really fun idea, fits perfectly into your story and it looks so cool with the exo parts are this crazy, super patriotic mechanical war machine!
I have that head sitting in my fodder bin.....did not think about it for Vapor! Great idea and flawless execution! He was always a favorite of mine so super cool to see him dropped in your thread! The Wrath tank commander is another pure win. I didn?t realize that there was a canceled Hiss driver so this one is totally new to me. Love that you kept him separate from Rip It and of course added your thigh wraps to bring the look home. Always love when you add that to a figure. The flipped button and number on his chest are the perfect finishing touches. A new season! And it starts out on the right foot with good old Bazooka! Perfect build for him with the pieces we have. I?m liking the decals you are adding to your customs. Your female viper looks badass! The purple faceplate paired with the purple Val pants make for a killer combo! Then super aggressive rifle for her! Love it!

Epic Laser Viper! Love the color matching with the body parts to exo pieces. Gives it that really cool seamless look. Then that rig for the lasers is badass!
Haha, your Irish cop is a great addition! Really loving that some of these officer parts are more readily available now and you put them to good use. And he?s keeping streets of Atlantis clean! The Battle Maid is a fantastic concept! Love the unique build and then the awesome broom puts her over the top! Super cool build and awesome name for El Camino! I keep thinking about doing a few of those Dreadnoks from the convention set when I get the right parts but I never thought of using the Zorro head! Brilliant! Love how he turned out, super badass and always love when you use that new red camo. Okay. Wow. I knew we?d see amazing Wild Bill?s once the Vietnam parts dropped but I never thought about an epic V1 being done with the parts we already had available. You absolutely crushed it with him! Then love hearing about your childhood vehicles, that?s a badass trio to start with! I think I?m all caught up! Haha, i kept thinking I?d always be at least a batch behind with how fast you build these new recruits!

Then super aggressive rifle for her! Love it! Happy to have you catch up good buddy! Uncle S.A.M. totally came about from that freebie head! I knew I couldn't let it go to waste, & I also wanted to do a fresh take! I was super pleased with how the Vapor homage came out, I was happy to find a good use for that unique head! I found out about the cancelled H.I.S.S. Tank Driver from Forgotten Figures!: Forgotten Figures: 2003 Unproduced Wal Mart Hiss Driver I have lots planned for the new Vietnam story line, you will see more pre-MGR 'Nam characters in some of the upcoming drops! I think stickers can add quite a bit to figures, so I am glad their are some great options available... ole' Bazook' wouldn't be the same without his numbers! Thanks for the kind words and great summary of your thoughts, it's always a pleasure to have you in this thread! . Last edited by Steel Brigade; 08-24-2022 at 08:11 AM.. |

Haha, i kept thinking I?d always be at least a batch behind with how fast you build these new recruits! Thanks man! yes the Laser Viper & Wild Bill were both really well received by the community here & on social media. Thanks for always taking the time to read the bios! I think world building adds something special to this thread! A small part of "Battle Maid's" influence came from getting that broom as a freebie, & (again) wanting to use it! Yup, the Zorro head was the final push I needed to make one of the Dreadheads, then just picked my favorite color combo lol! Big thanks for reading the stories "behind the bash" lol, that "GI Joe 1st Vehicles X-mas" was very memorable for me... It was like the gateway for childhood Joes! As I think the only other Joe I had at the time was Blowtorch! YES! You are all caught up! THANKS AGAIN BRO! Next drop will be around Labor Day as the 5 September figures are all finished & I am currently working (now) on October's batch! . |

Haha, I got the broom with the one zombie figure and could not wait to use it either!
I think the first Joe vehicle that was ?mine? was the mail order Firebat. I remember my grandmom bringing the unopened package when she picked me up from elementary school because she knew I was waiting for it. Then I flew that thing on the walk home while my buddy parashooted AVAC from tree to tree as we walked. Then I still remember picking out marine dress blues Gung Ho & Crystal Ball as my first two Joes. Haha. What a pair! Still have them. Those were my gateways into collecting Joes because before those, everything was just a hand me down from my brother. And I love the grid pictures! Was cycling through them the other day for inspiration, found two that I hope to be posting sooner than later. One is close, we actually had a very similar build but your finishing touches just made him look so much better than what?s been sitting on my shelf. Then the other was a deep dive that I never heard of before so I hope to pair it with one other character to post once I figure out that build. Looking forward to that Labor day batch!

Interesting you mention A.V.A.C., as he was on a "leaked list" for this weekend's drop! XD Ya know, your dynamic duo of Crystal Ball & Marine Dress Blues Gung-Ho is an interesting pair. As I remember SPECIFICALLY at my local "The Fair" dept. store (which was similar to K-mart) had a slew of both of those 2 just peg-warming for ages! LOL! And I never picked up either of them! @_@ Now it makes me wonder if you selected them by interest or sheer volume?!?!?! They are some of the first peg warmers that I can clearly remember from my childhood days! Cool that you still have both of them! 2 "Hit & Run builds" are coming & 1 inspired by my grids! I LIKE IT! Can't wait to see what you bring to the table and the similarities/differences between the crossover figure between our threads! XD ...And yes, we are on track for "New Recruits" this weekend! ;-) . NEW RECRUITS!!!!! 350 FIGURES MILESTONE!!!!!
#346/137. WAR MASTER (SPACE COMMAND VERSION) (based on G.I. Joe '97: Destro - Cobra Command Team) M.A.R.S. Space Command Version/Version 2 Origin: Scotland Season 10 Parts bin build! Looking to use up some repurposed Rescue-Ops & other parts while adding another Destro to the ranks (outside my Exo-Suit build.) I colored the white bars black on his chest to give him more uniformity there. Added some Boss Fight and AWOK stuff to homage that 1997 "NON-Pimp Daddy Destro" & add some space flavor... When the World flooded to the point where most land mass had become submerged, WAR MASTER'S M.A.R.S. Industries was already near complete on the first fully operational space headquarters & battle station called "Mars II." WAR MASTER left his relative DARK LORD in charge of M.A.R.S. remaining Earth operations, while fully embracing his role as high commander in space. Some say a little "too much" as his already wild fashion sense seems to be more "out of this world" than ever! Last edited by Steel Brigade; 11-08-2023 at 04:09 PM.. |
