Thumbs up soldier! Thanks for continuing to stop by! Quote:
I want to make one too but have not found quite the right head yet for a Saya... It's maybe because I am looking for a twin braid head (like the original anime film & live action film)... Hmmm... might have to ponder this one some more. ;-) Quote:
Got to love a huge batch of new ninjas. I'm not sure I have a favorite as all the varying pieces you have chosen for the specific characters from various lines is really amazing. You always seem to be able to pick the perfect parts for each custom to pay homage to whatever the source material is.
Another great group! I envy your mad sculpting skillz! Quote:
I few notes back to you lol: I never thought of Bench Press AS Rock N' Roll either back when ROC was new, but decided to make him the same character for my MTF Universe for some continuity for the in-character, as I've considered doing like 3 more/other versions of RnR at this point, but I am unsure if any (I'm sure at least maybe 1 more) will make the cut. This way his in-story has continued a bit with having the same name as RnR on the original's file card... sure it was just a trademark thing back in the day which is why he got the Bench Press name... easily one of my fave ROC figs! Thanks for reading the bios, glad you enjoy them! That's a great idea about doing a "Mirror" version of the Shutendoji Cult Leader, if I only had the parts lol! Some of them were parts bin donations, like the opposite Yellow Arm for "Zombie Hunter Rika!" Thanks again, I'm really glad you liked the Hard Hat/Toll Booth homage & Action Girl! Look forward to what you gotta say next! |

Another great round of figures! All of the parts work so well together. I'd say Saki and Black Fox are my favorites from this round.

Here we go with more commentary:
1. Saki: What a beautiful figure. The likeness to the photo is really good. I really like the "blood" story and the rage. SWORD! 2. Yurei Kage: Love the parts use here. The BFS "helmet" really kicks. Great use of parts from different lines which I love seeing. Great homage and matches the original quite well. SWORD! 3. Black Fox: Interesting mix is right! I love the parts use with the head and the leg armor. The head is spot on, as is the rest of your choices. SWORD! 4. Black Blood Ninjas: I absolutely loved your red Blood Ninja, so I am excited to see a Black version. Great bio of changing their clan's purpose. I really like the short sleeves with the "arm wrap" at the bottom. SWORD! 5. Shocker Combatant: I really, really like this one. The BFS blind bag weapon is super cool. I have one but didn't know what to do with it. Now I do. The hair color with the red mask really pops. Great figure. Female sect of the Black Blood Ninjas is super clever too. Really matches the vinyl figure too. SWORD! Great job, great bios. Love reading your 2016 adventure where you first encountered the vinyl too. Sometimes the real life adventure inspiring a custom is just as fun and exciting as the custom itself.

Sami looks great! Incredible backdrop as well! Another cool homage with an awesome official backstory and then likewise with the one you?ve given the homage in your universe. Really liking the shirt look over the Marauder cloth legs, then like you said, another amazing head by Spartans. Love the image showing the inspiration as well, she looks awesome.
Love your build for the battle armor Storm Shadow. That was a great design by Hasbro and you are a wizard for picking parts from all across the board to recreate the look! Haha. That?s a fun & unique helmet he has, don?t think I?ve seen that before and it does a great job mimicking the metal bits that the original figure had. Then I always love seeing that red camo used, especially because I still only have one of that figure. Oh wow! So many different layers to Black Fox! She?s fantastic! Love the layering with the build being topped off with the cloth cloak. Really stands out with the dark color scheme, then it?s crazy how you recreated that character with no paint! Always impressed with how you are able to build things that way. Haha. I cheat so much when I?m faced with the decision of order more parts or just throw down some paint. The Lucha mask head really does a great job filling in for her unique Batman looking cowl. Your black ninja is another that just pops with that build! Always love your t shirt torso with cloth forearms look, really gives that wrapped arms feel. Then going with the chopping hand just adds that extra touch to him. It?s always fun making a ninja! Love the backstory for the Shocker Combatant! Glad you were able to track down what the figure was so you could still pick it up years later! I do the same thing with stuff I had from my childhood where I know I want to reacqure something lost over time but I totally blank on what toyline it could possibly be from....then it?s always satisfying when you randomly stumble across it at a toy show in a bin. Fantastic recreation of the original figure! The red bandanna really captures the look that the inspiration figure had and you did an excellent job building her out with the accessories. That red weapon is badass! Have to see a past & present shot of your custom next to the original figure that you acquired! Haha. Another great group, you are always working so can?t wait to see the next batch!

Another great group, you are always working so can?t wait to see the next batch! Ha ha thanks as always for your insightful review buddy! Glad you like Saki, I like that head so much I plan to use it again with an entirely different paint scheme on an entirely different character later this year. ;-) It's funny, I love that Saki build as it is, (& don't plan on changing any of it), as it's a really nice union of everything this thread has become, & yet, I think if I built her today (instead of when I did), I might have made her build almost completely different! She's a great hallmark of the small metamorphosis that has occurred in my building style over the last year, & is beautiful in person! On the POC Whirlwind Storm Shadow homage, the helmet is a Boss Fight Ghariala Helmet! I build things with no paint as even as an artist who's painted lots of figure paintings, to paint an actual figure itself is a different skill all together, & I admire what you & others do with painting figures, & just do these things the best way that I can! lol The shopping aspect of Black Fox was a lot of fun to figure out. ;-) Here is a photo for you (by request) of the Female Shocker duo, remake & original sofubi! XD Thanks again bro! *Still on track for more "New Recruits" this weekend!!!!! . Last edited by Steel Brigade; 06-03-2022 at 09:29 AM.. |

Haha, I run into the same thing, either when pulling some of my older customs for the photoshoots or checking out this thread or Rob?s. Since we all use so many parts from Marauder and overlap in characters so much, I?ll see one of my old paint jobs which really need to be redone, or you guys will make something with a unique build or paint job and I?ll be itching to take another stab at my custom.
Haha, well I can paint a figure but I?m totally hopeless painting pictures. I?m good with crayons though! Your no paint builds are always impressive because it takes a totally different mindset from how I go in so it?s exciting when we have overlaps in characters. Haha. Plus you find all of this cool stuff that boss fight & Marauders have that I always overlook since I?m still working off of orders I?ve placed years ago. Ooooooh! I was not prepared for her to be in the package too! I love a unique vintage package! That?s so different & awesome! Thanks for the past & present, your custom looks fantastic with the inspiration figure. Glad you were able to track one down and thanks again for the pic!

Not familiar with any of these characters from Japan but they are REALLY COOL! From the parts you selected to make these, down to the paint job, very nice!
