Well, I'm back at it again, doing yet another Joe custom/restoration, and this time it's the revered 1983 Headquarters. My previous restoration project was the 1988 X-19 Phantom , which was a reinterpretation to reflect a true military aircraft. http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...tml#post715895
Now, with the "Base" I torn between two very distinct directions, one that I do a clean restoration and redo the entire base, maintaining the original 1983 cadence. The second option is to do new-school GI Joe Resolute rendition of the Base, with all the modern military affordances peppered in there. New computer terminal, chairs, guns, the works. This is were the project stands so far...... You can see what a difference a can of silver spray paint can do. The contrast between raw plastic and the restored is startling. I've had some fun with the jail, I already have some fun ideas for decals. The floor and all the gray has been sprayed with Testors Model Master Series, it is the closest to the original gray. Love to hear what you guys have to say, I'm about a week or two away from deciding which direction I'm going. Last edited by hubrisin; 04-10-2014 at 09:19 PM.. |

Don't get me wrong.I did enjoy Resolute, but having never had the H.Q. myself but staring my heart away, I wouldn't want to change a good thing.I like the way the paint turned out. Restore it to all of it's old school glory!

niether, do it all Dethklok style with torture room and gargoyles and just real metal like!
ok sorry, in all seriousness I would love to see a Resolute base but I think the classic hold more sentiment to the fans. its like an old muscle car, the classics never die. |

My idea for the decals is a blend of the 83' catalog graphics with modern graphics for all the computer terminals (there are tape backups on the old terminals, what about DVD's?)

I say keep it classic.
A Resolute base would need more in and around it than this mold can offer. It would probably be better to restore one of the 90's HQ as a Resolute base |
