*UPDATE*
So, I finally caved in and heated up his ammo belts. I really hate how Hasbro couldn't get this detail right and had the bullets pointed in. After heating it up, I was able to play around with it to put it on Big Ben with the bullets pointed out. I wanted him to actually have webgear so I put a Shrage webgear on him under his ammo belts. To give it more the vintage look. I just had to cut off the star on the belt buckle and paint over it. I have to adjust the straps on the front a little bit as I didn't realize it was so bent until I looked at the pictures. Normally I just put everything in his backpack, that's why there's a strap sticking out.

That's creative.
I reversed the direction of the crossed ammo bandoliers on mine to match the vintage o-ring figure and the card artwork. A more realistic look to wearing the ammo, in my opinion, than the way the factory workers assembled the figure. |

Thanks.
I know what you mean about the ammo. It was a result of how Hasbro did the 25th Rock N Roll which is where these are recycled from. The bullets should face out, not in. However, when I switch the direction, the ammo belt will kinda curve the wrong way which is why I just left it facing the way it is. Basically to have the backpack hole open to fit his backpack, the belt would practically be choking him if I swapped the direction of the bullets. Anyways, I fixed up his belt a little so it is not all bent over the place.

My ammo belts were each soaked in a cup of boiled water, prior to placement upon the figure. I don't even dry them, because I only have a portion of a minute with each belt while the elasticity is in effect. That soft material allows the belt to be arranged in any shape desired. As the belts cool upon the figure, they shrink to exact dimensions for a perfect fit without interfering with the backpack hole. This might not work for your figure, because the additional webgear straps under your ammo belts could make it too tight like you said. But if you haven't tried the hot water placement method... |

Your figure looks even better now that you straightened the harness belts.

Then, using small pliers, I dip each belt, one at a time, into the hot water for 5 to 15 seconds, because I can see the item absorb the heat and turn flexible almost instantly. I have to work quickly, because the belts cool fast. Once out of the water, I can hold the belt with my fingertips and softly spread the item smoothly over the surface, and hold it in place as it cools. If I am in a hurry, I hold the item under a water faucet while running some cold water. Fortunately, if needed, I can dip the belt into the hot water again as often as needed, until I get the desired result. |
