Thanks for the comments guys. For some reason, I posted this thread Thursday night and it's just now showing up. Anyway, I've got plenty more pictures to post, so it could take me the next couple of days to get them all together. I thought I'd start out with the original overall shot of it before I played around with the background in paint shop.
The flag pole and satellite dish are both removable along with each tower so the overall height can be more compact for storage. The under side of each removable roof panel was painted white and some light decals added. I'll arrange the rest of the pictures in later posts as sort of a walk around tour to show each inside building/room and their interiors. If there are any questions about anything along the way, feel free to ask. Stay tuned... |

An old foreign legion outpost feel is exactly what I was trying for. I always was fascinated with the old desert war type movies when growing up. Thanks for the comment, more pics to come.

Very cool, I did similar designs using cardboard when I was a kid.

Just need some weapons in your guard towers.

Starting the tour with the entrance. The front gates are pretty simple with some shallow grooves cut into both sides of them with the table saw just to make them look a little more interesting.
Hinged to swing outward, the gates lock from the inside with a basic square dowel fitting into two aluminum channel pieces I cut down. Along the wall to the right of the gate is a place to store to wooden lock when not in use. |

The small room right of the gate & under the watch tower is used as a storage room for maintenance stocked with tools and other supplies.
