Made these in the past couple of days, Two mercs finished except for weapons and some details I made for someone on commission and a Cobra Transport truck currently on ebay, trying to make room and get some vehicles done.
The airbrush shading effect on the vehicle is not airbrush - I have an airbrush but I found some paints on clearance at Hobby Lobby that replicate the subtlety of airbrushing nicely - one light coat of Krylon Glowz white across the bottom gives a road dirt highlight effect and then a wash of Testors grey enamel stain makes it nice and subtle. Coated with Minwax Satin Polyurethane for durability. Bazooka Trooper is slightly upgraded with POC gear - cast helmet painted light blue and POC style knife with Marauder weapon (http://www.marauderinc.com/default.asp). Decals are J Ruben (www.rattlerrepros.weebly.com - Home) and Im almost out so I need to order more sooooon.

Very clean paintwork. Interesting that there is a paint system to replicate the airbrush shading. I have an H1 on my list, but it will go A-team black and red for my 80's Galoob figs.
Looks great! |

More pics of everything por favor! Awesome job on the truck and the mercs. I especially like the tan balaclava soldier.

I'm really liking the paint jobs. It's funny when everyone is ready to jump on using an airbrush for everything, not realizing it's not the most practical way to paint all the time. It takes more time to clean, tear down, repair before you're ready reuse the gun again instead of a controlled spray by can or hand painting can yield the same results, especially if you are well skilled in hand control painting.
Just remember what ol Jack Burton would say, "It's all in the reflexes!" |
