Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to share a few comparison pics of the recent Snake Eyes model I built and a couple of 3D prints I just received of him. The larger, colored Snake Eyes statue is approximately 6.75 inches tall and was printed using Shapeways' amazing Full Color Sandstone material. No painting was required. The smaller, clear figure was printed in Frosted Ultra Detail and stands approximately 1.97 inches tall. I hope you like them!! If you enjoy my work, please visit, "LIKE," and "SHARE" my Art page at: Tecrom Designs | Facebook There, you can view digital turnarounds of my work, receive project updates, vote for my next model and of course, catch up on the latest pop culture news. Thank you very much. Flint Dille liked it too. I actually gifted him the first copy of Snake Eyes at the recent G.I.Joe/TF animated film screening here in Hollywood. Happy to say he has it proudly displayed on his shelf!
Thanks. I'm still waiting for approval from Hasbro. Hopefully, I can make it available as an officially Licensed product. I'll let everyone know when I hear back from them. I'll make sure to update the first page of this thread when I find out. Quote:
BTW as a reminder, “all humans I model” regardless of brand (TF/JOE/D&D etc.) are in scale to one another as either a 6-7 inch statues “OR” MP size mini-figures.

Thanks abyssinian13. Hopefully I'll get a chance to model another Joe characters soon. I may have to put it to a vote again on my art page. TF fans outnumber Joe fans there, so it maybe a while before I get to build another Joe. A shame because I've been itching to redesign Nemesis Enforcer. That is just perfect. I really hope we get to see more stuff like this! Guys like Zartan and Destro would look incredible I think, since they have really defined uniforms.
I'm guessing it would be okay to paint these things too? Because I'd love to see a really glossy, pitch black version of this Snake Eyes. I really hope you get approval for these things. If not, just make them slightly different enough from the real designs to be legal. Hell, if we can paint them, just make Snake Eyes pink. A G.I. Joe or Cobra logo etched into the base would look really good too, with approval of course. |

And I totally agree; Destro and Zartan would be cool to model in a similar style. Most of the stuff I have on Shapeways are created in my free time. I'm a full time freelance artist and would love to work as an in-house sculptor again. It’d be awesome to model Joes, Marvel Legends, DC Universe or the MOTU line. Funny that you mentioned a glossy black. This is actually the second print I ordered; the first was given to Flint Dille when I attended the screening of G.I Joe the animated movie here in Hollywood several weeks back. To give it a more finished look, I coated an identical 3D print with a glossy automotive paint protector. It took really well and completely glossed the statue. For some odd reason though, I did not think to take a picture of it. However, I was told by a Shapeways rep that you can also use "Matte Acrylic Clear Paint" on the Full Color Sandstone material. It’s supposed to help protect the model, causes the colors to pop and gives it a smoother finish. With the pics above, I really wanted to show what comes directly from shapeways. With regards to being granted an official license, the prospect of Snake Eyes going through looks pretty good. I make sure to follow all parameters outline by Hasbro and Shapeways. The last time I submitted models, all 34 of my TF designs were approved. But let’s keep our fingers crossed. Again, I'm very humbled by your interest. Thank you. -Felix

Really nice design for snake eyes. His gear all looks functional and makes tactical sense, he has the classic look, but is updated with modern sensibilities in mind. You knocked it out of the park.
