I'm a big horror movie fan, and one of my all-time favorites is 1985's Re-Animator, based on a story by author H.P. Lovecraft. Expertly combining horror, tons of gore, and very twisted, jet-black humor, Re-Animator is the story of mad scientist Dr. Herbert West, who has invented a strange green glowing fluid known as "re-agent" that can reanimate the recently dead when injected directly into the brain-stem at the base of the neck. Unfortunately, Dr. West's quest to defeat death hits a slight roadblock, as the people he revives become violent, crazed, killer zombies. Havoc ensures.
Herbert West's exploits continued in two sequels, and while they both had their merits (mostly due to West actor Jeffrey Combs' awesome performances), none were quite as good as the original. They're all still worth watching, however, with the first one being a must-see if you're even remotely interested in horror. In my dio story line here, Dr. West has been locked up in a federal prison for deaths caused by his bizarre and unnatural experiments. However, when Cobra Commander caught word of West and his re-agent serum, he became very interested in finding out more about him. Work on Cobra's infamous Compound Z had stalled with the deaths of both Dr. Venom and Dr. Mindbender, and Cobra Commander needed to re-populate his science division with someone not only brilliant, but devoid of moral constraints; someone who would make any sacrifice in the name of science. The Commander also suspected that West's re-agent would provide the missing link that Compound Z was lacking and finally give him what he'd been wanting: a reliable way to quickly manufacture an unstoppable zombie army that would crush GI Joe once and for all. Cobra Commander had a new operative, the UT Commander (formally of the Umbrella Corporation...custom gallery HERE) break into the high-security prison West was being held at to stage a daring break-out. Once back at Cobra headquarters, Cobra Commander and his new administrator (and main squeeze) Delora Frost did their best to make Dr. West feel welcome, and informed him that, for the first time in his career, his work would receive all the finding, resources, and freedom it needed to reach its ultimate potential. West relished the opportunity, sensing a kindred spirit in the Commander, and theorized that Compound Z and his re-agent might make for a formidable combination; the two might solve the individual problems each experienced on their own. West was given two loyal assistants, Bob and Akmed, who followed his orders without question. West worked tirelessly for weeks, and when he was ready for his first test of his revised re-agent, Cobra Commander provided him with the perfect test subject: GI Joe's field commander Duke, who had been captured days earlier after suffering explosive diarrhea on the battlefield and being left behind by his fellow Joes. West and the Commander greatly anticipated the results of the test of the new re-agent; in addition, Cobra Commander also looked forward to any suffering that his old foe might incur in the process. Alas, while the experiment was not a complete success, it yielded enough results that it had convinced both Cobra Commander and Dr. West that their partnership was mutually beneficial. Herbert West was determined to perfect his re-agent...and finally defeat death once and for all, no matter what the cost.

That is awesome dude! I just finished reading the original short story a few days ago! I never thought to do a custom of him. Great work man! I myself want to do a comic of the story, using the proper time period.

Thanks! It's from a Kre-O figure. I just painted it neon green.
BTW, that's a DG Duke head. I can't believe how close it comes to how West looks in the movie. Quote:
BTW, did you ever hear the CD where Jeffrey Combs reads the original Re-Animator story? He does a really good job. If anyone's interested in it, PM me. I'll tell you where to get it. Oh, and make sure you post that comic if you ever get around to making it.
