I really love the new Cobra Commander and the new Storm Shadow; I think they were very close to the ultimate versions of these characters. However, I was not happy with Cobra Commander's legs and his rocker ankles, and I felt Storm Shadow's torso was a bit too long and not wide enough. So I put the 25th anniversary version CC legs on Cobra Commander, and surprisingly, to me at least, they turned out really well. I also put the 25th anniversary SS torso on Storm Shadow and I really like the way it makes him look now. Thanks for looking!

I would want to copy that Storm Shadow recipe if I didn't have to split the torso. I think he looks good.
For CC, I like the legs but wish the colors matched as the legs are dullish blue and the torso is a more glossy blue.

I think your heart is in the right place, but in addition to the blue on CC's legs not quite matching, those legs are a tad too skinny for the torso, unfortunately. But hey, if you like it who cares what some dude on a message board thinks? Honestly, what I'm saying amounts to nit-picking. It isn't really noticeable unless you're looking for it.
And hey, I think I'm the only guy posting here who actually likes rocker ankles. I do really like how the 25th SS torso looks, however. Did you crack the torso open and transfer the arms over from the Ultimate SS? I always loved that little knife sheath he had in his belt. Great work.

I like rocker ankles. Just wish they finished the job by painting the swivel joint.

But overall, from the reception that rocker ankles receive here, you'd think the posters were touched inappropriately as a child by some pervert with rocker ankles or something.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I agree the legs are a bit skinny but in person at least it really works for me, and it has made CC not as tall. I also imagine him to be kind of scrawny so the thin legs don't bother me. Yeah, I didn't paint the legs (yet) to match the color of his torso.
As for SS, yes I had to crack open the torso, which I hate doing, and then transfer the ultimate arms, legs, and head to the 25th torso. I superguled it back shut and I like the look of it better. To me the Ultimate SS was kind of too long and skinny. I imagine SS to be shorter and buffer.

I honestly really like that Storm Shadow and if it didn't involve cracking the torso, I would do it too.

It is a bit of a gamble, but I heated up the torso in boiling hot water for a few minutes and took it out and it came apart easy with a little prying of the knife that I applied immediately thereafter. Although after being glued back together the torso joint is now a lot looser than it was.

I like rocker ankles on my figures. I like the extra possess one can give the figure for display. I think both of these customs really work. About cracking torsos, for the longest time I suffered with how to crack them open, even sliced my fingers open a few times. The vice and grip pliers method did not work for me either.
The easiest method, at least for me is using a wooden block, a small flat head screwdriver and a small mallet. How about you guys? Any good methods? |
