The first was made as a LATE christmas gift for my cousin, and then I was going to keep the second, but someone asked if it was for sale, and I said sure, so I took on a commission for it. I guess Ill need to get some parts to make mine hahaha!

Awesome update to an already-badass custom, Ska! The new head and hood are the cherry on the proverbial sundae! Out of curiosity, what paint color(s) and type of paint did you use for the camo pattern?

I used all white base pieces, but since even that isnt perfect, I went over all of the figure with the flat white. The grey was done with modelmasters as well and their dark grey color. Id give you the code numbers but, they rub off the labels really easy, so I dont have them anymore. The rope on the back pack and the bandoleer were painted first with citadel's baylor brown and then washed over with modelmasters Panzers...braun(its a crazy name, I just call it panzer brown). The shin splints were just washed with the panzer braun to pop them out some. Thats it, easy! I debated on washing the figure with a pale grey, but decided against it, since the sculpt of the figure has enough definition to cast its own shadow.

In case anyone is interested, here is an earlier version I made using similar parts. I used a much heavier white paint then, but its how I devised my recipe. It shows its age in the line work lol!

Thanks for the info! I have some of those Model Masters Acryl paints that you mentioned (need to get brown though), so I may very well put them to use. I am in the process of trying to do a similarly-faithful version of '88 SS myself.
Great job on that Tunnel Rat-headed figure, btw! You should include it as an interchangeable head option to your new hooded version! |
