I also suggest MJ for the best bang for the buck. He has a nice assortment, and the prices and service are great.
The stuff I sell is some of the more oddball things, and weapons that John hasn't gotten to yet, and unfortunately because of the labor/time intensive method I can't sell them as cheap, but MJ has his manufactured, and can cut his costs accordingly (which I am happy about, since I am a customer too). A local buddy of mine (RaginSpoon) who I've been teaching how to make molds and cast, just started making some weapons. He's not selling them through a store, but some are up on the 'bay if you want to see what he's got to offer (scroll down, as they are at the bottom of the list): eBay Seller: unknownpumpkin: Toys Hobbies items on eBay.com As for the customs form thing, I found a nice balance by declaring the stuff (when I ship overseas) as "cast resin toy parts". Haven't had any issues with anything that I'm aware since doing that. |

Just ordered my first batch (small order, actually), from Marauder, and they haven't arrived yet (probably in the next couple of weeks, since I'm in Macau).
From what I've seen on their site, they do have a pretty varied and decent collection of stuff, from guns and personal accessories, to diorama pieces. I'm still in the playing phase with my son (he's 6), so I just ordered mostly weaponry and accessories, but soon we'll be working on dioramas (We've actually started by converting Ninja Turtles Lair into a base, though the scale is quite off), so I'll be getting some of their larger items pretty soon. Hey!
In this day & age, on ALL custom forms we put "doll accessories" When shipping ANYTHING, the last word you want on a customs form is GUN! :-) So "doll accessories" is innocent enough, but accurately informs what is inside the package. It may hurt all our egos a little, but the last thing you want is to be put in the position where you have to explain that the firearms you just got in the mail are not "real" firearms, but are actually just toy guns for your action figures. So, better to sidestep the entire issue and use the less macho, but just as accurate, "doll accessories" on the label. But regardless, will be delighted to "modify" the description on your future packages to "toy model accessories" or "model kit accessories"...heck or just roll with it and we can give the folks in the mail room a good laugh and write "Barbie shoes" on the package! :-D As silly as it sounds, just the word "gun" can cause all sorts of issues. To be on the safe side, when we crossed the US border into Canada for last weekend's Canada GI Joe convention, we made sure our hats that had "Gun-Runners" embroidered across them were safely packed away (proudly sported a cobra hat). Gosh, can you imagine the vehicle inspection that would of resulted from wearing the Marauder hats? MJ |
