I can't begin to properly thank you all for the most humbling, rewarding series of comments and compliments I've ever received. Bloody hell, guys, thanks so much!
I was (clumsily) photographing Sigma 6 as far back as 2006-ish (the highlights of the Sigma 6 portraits are here: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...sigma-6-a.html), but this thread covers from 2009 in the Horn of Africa to just a couple-few months ago here in Twin Falls. Well, I had two primary motivations in creating this thread. The first was to provide a more inviting version of my mammoth "Geek Creek Kitbashes" thread (http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...kitbashes.html). If you have about seven months to kill, that thread features all these photos and dozens or probably hundreds more, plus character names and ideas, strange commentary, etc. Holy crap, bro, what progress! And I still love that crazy terrain in the Tunnel Rat portrait! I'm thrilled and gratified to have helped inspire your hobby, and I love watching you take the 1:18 game into bold, badass new territory! Quote:
Hopefully Hasbro will win me back in the years to come. In the meantime, this thread is a fond and self-indulgent farewell. Quote:

Again, folks, thank you very much! Your kind words are staggering and affirming. You're the best! |

Monte - Strange you would post here, today, as this is the first time I thought to track down your threads in MONTHS. Must be kismet. Or something.
Anyway, amazing run. I had lost interest in Joe for a while, and recently, I'm being wooed back. So not strange to see you bowing out for a bit, if bittersweet. I'll echo others - Your pics and customs were and are inspirational. While nowhere near as prolific or clever, my own kitbashes were a direct result of your work, and recently, I've had the hankering to dive back in. Hence my search today. So, here's to Geek Creek. May it ever flow onwards. And when next it overflows into the Joe 'verse, I can say confidently that many will be happy to quench their thirst in its waters. (Too poetic? Nah...) |

I think I was not even registered on the Tank at the time. It's just that your 'verse is so dense that I would like a dio story out of it with bubbles and all. My comics reader side I suppose ^^ But I know how much time consuming it can be ... |

Belated but sincere thanks to Rider and GigaMach for the kind words!
Meanwhile, my wife and I are vaguely toying with the notion of going overseas again. If that comes to pass, owing to luggage space and weight limitations, I might be forced to focus on small-scale Joes again! Last edited by Monte Williams; 11-06-2015 at 02:11 AM.. |

Nearly nine months since my last post in this thread, and while I've captured plenty of 1:18 photos (mostly Hellboy and Acid Rain Bob), I seem to have captured only three G.I. Joe photos.
