"When you go home tell them of us and say: For your tomorrow we gave our today"
John Maxwell Edmonds. I really wanted to do something special for Remembrance day and Veterans day. Also this year is the centennial of World War one. Let me first take this opportunity to say Thank You to all those that serve and have served for our countries. Thank You. Lest We Forget. For my 100th custom I wanted to do something World War one inspired. I found it very challenging to come up with an idea. Then I came across the German built Kettenkraftrad SdKfz 2. This is a WW2 vehicle but first built around the end of WW1. In 1938 it was put into mass production. As soon as I saw this I had to build one. As always I wanted it to fit into the ARAH universe so I decided to blend an Armadillo with a Ram motorcycle. I used a bit more of the motorcycle than the original design. Then I added Awe Striker seats in the back. The Original Kettenkrad was basically a treaded tractor with a motorcycle front fork. The idea was that it would be easy for anyone to drive, it worked just like a motorcycle. You steered it the same except for the fact the front wheel really wasn't important. In fact it could operate without it. The Kettenkrad had rear facing seats that could fit two soldiers plus the driver in the front. It was used mainly for hauling troops and supplies up mountain sides and through tight areas of wilderness. They were also designed to haul a small trailer or gun. The specs say they could reach up to 50 mph with a four cylinder 147cc gasoline engine. There were around 8400 of these produced between 1938 to 1945. Today they are extremely rare and collectable.

Flawless work on that! I really like the figures too. It's always great to see ARAH customs.
When I first saw the thumbnail, it reminded me of a mobility scooter that Richard Hammond made on Top Gear. |

Well done. Any other day this would be an amazing custom. Along with the background, this goes way beyond that.

You can see the full episode that it's in here:Top Gear Season 18 Episode 4 by vlss222 - Car Videos on StreetFire
It shows up in chapter 5. Oddly enough, it was also built for veterans, in a way. |
