First off, let's all agree like gentlemen to hate Jarred, who bought a used Shellraiser for a couple bucks and turned it into an absolute masterpiece of a hangout:
I love this setup so much! Awesome job, man. Quote:
The side-by-side comparison does the Out of the Shadows figures no favors. I'm still pleased with them, though. They're damn fun. Thanks! I was pretty happy with how that one turned out, although in general I found Kabuki to be oddly difficult to photograph. Maybe it's her limited articulation. Now then... Y'all ready for some new stuff? Or, rather, new photos of mostly old stuff? First off, Next, Donatello steals a device from NECA Adam West Batman: Don't let your scientific curiosity distract you, Don! Night Shadow Leonardo is not the SDCC version, but rather a knockoff I bought for $8 or so. He's striking enough that the lack of articulation doesn't bother me, but of course I knew about it ahead of time... and only paid $8. I've also sent some figures to Heymilt for a makeover, and I put together a trade that will bring to my doorstep the Target-exclusive five-pack of the Turtles and Fugitoid with chrome bits (which is 50% off at Target, so take advantage before they're gone!), plus the Nickelodeon Party Wagon and all four Wal-Mart-exclusive Secret of the Ooze Classics figures, which I'm also planning to send to Heymilt. So things might slow down here in this thread for a month or two (or maybe not!), but eventually business will pick up again with some very cool new figures and repaints! IDK man, the new Movie turtles look like solid modern updates to the classic ninja design and aren't as...hodge podged as the first movie one so I'm hoping after I get done with my obsession of Star Wars I can find the line.

I still haven't completely abandoned my dream of creating a giant custom sewer lair for my Turtles. Yesterday I captured some quick shots of some Playmobil props and accessories in the 2003 sewer.

That there is the "Tactical Truck" from the Playmates Out of the Shadows series. It looks pretty fun, but it also looks very plastic and toylike. Plus, it's a bit small. I've been eyeballing larger, more realistic alternatives from Dickie and Bruder. I was bummed to discover that the Bruder truck I'd been studying at Wal-Mart for a week or two is gone... but then I found one beat to hell at the thrift shop for $3, versus the $40 Wally World is charging and the $99 (!!!) some local store is charging. Like I said, part of it is broken and it's missing its dumpster accessory (I suspect the dumpster that came with the Nick sewer might work with it, but mine is currently in Canada receiving a makeover from heymilt!), but it's huge, and frankly I don't care that it's broken 'cause I reckon the Turtles are pretty tough on their rides. The Turtles cannot sit in the seats (although I bet you could pop the legs off some of the Mix and Match figures and set them properly inside the cab), and it's not like I really need a garbage truck for my darn Turtles, but for three bucks, I'm quite happy. And it has the same color pattern! Huzzah! Last edited by Monte Williams; 09-07-2019 at 04:38 PM.. |
