Hilarious and awesome. I love it. I wonder how many other random, nameless characters were created just for the artwork of retail Joe gear, just waiting to be turned into customs like this?
BTW, Odinson, what's your photo studio setup like? Your pic quality is always great. Any tips or advice on how to take good figure pics would be appreciated.

thanks guys, i love old school BMX and gi joes, so i was stoked to make this guy.
as far as photography goes, i have a pretty basic light box set up- ideally there should be three lamps, one on the top and two coming through the sides (there should be holes cut on the sides with a cheese cloth type fabric over them) in order to get enough light in there to not have to use a flash. BUT once i got this set up like this i kinda didn't follow through and finish it properly so i still have to use the flash. i have an old outdated fujifilm 10 megapixel camera set on automatic and macro. i import into iPhoto and usually have to adjust the exposure and shadows a little bit in the edit menu to get enough light on everything. the end result is usually adequate, but getting enough light in there to not have to use the flash or greatly increase the exposure in editing the key to getting really good shots and showing details really well. one of these days i'll invest the time and money into getting my light box dialed in. |

I've been wanting to either build or pick up some kind of light box or tent for a while now. I've been taking my pics up until now on the driveway on the side of my house, which offers nice natural light without direct exposure to the sun and gives the figures a nice concrete backdrop, but sometimes I notice that subtle details of some paintjobs are washed out due to the light not being good but ideal. Plus, I have to lug everything outside to begin with. It would be much easier to have a set-up in the house for a number of reasons, not the least of which being having to wait until no neighbors around who might see me taking pics of toys outside, lol. Thanks again, Odinson. Keep 'em coming!
