In honor of Memorial day I bring you my Oktober guard's new ride: a modified m3 halftrack. I do not know a ton about this vehicle but I do know that it was utilized by the Soviet forces in WWII. SO in my world it has lasted since WWII and is still utilized by the GI Joes stationed in Russia.
I actually made two. One Pictured w/out figures and the other pictured with some of my guardsmen(women). I love how it turned out and I spent a lot of time painting/detailing/washing to get the exact look I wanted. Not sure what I am going to do with the extra... Looks good
And it is very believable that it could still be in service. The Deuce and a half got put into service at the end of WWII and is basically still being used today.

looks awesome! Makes me wonder though, in reality how did those things actually work? I would figure the power from the tracks would make the front wheels redundant. Especially for turning the vehicle.

The tracks were added to make the vehicle more ATV. Since it was only on the back half they would be very similar to having regular wheels on the vehicle as far as steering goes. Steering was one of the main reasons why they only made them half tracks. Since it still had regular wheels up front it still steered exactly like a regular vehicle would (no track steering like a tank) which means anyone could jump in and drive it.

That makes total sense. I knew they were made to be better on all terrains but I never thought of it from that angle. They always screamed Russian to me for some reason and I can Imagine the 4 50 cal guns sheading some cobra lead!

Even the Russians aren't so hard up as to still be using M16 MGMCs, but it's definitely not the worst idea for a OG vehicle. We did Lend-Lease M5-based M17 MGMCs, so while not the precise variant it's believable. Nicely done.

Aside from all the Soviet emblems, it would be a great covert vehicle. ;)
