I promised I would post photos of my custom Shockwave army, so here they are:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/113336...th/13999905057 There are a total of 16 different outfits for Shockwave. Some of them you have previously seen, others you haven't. Are you ready? Well here we gooooooooooo... 1) ARAH style Shockwave First, I'll start off with the ARAH styled Shockwave, which required the least amount of work. Besides including the original ARAH Shockwave's accessories(except that giant pistol, which I got rid of), I modified the peg for the backpack to fit(though it only seems to fit when I flip it upside-down, like in the photo), and I gave him a different belt. He looks the most like the original RAH version. Formula: Modified backpack, Uzi, and knife tucked in backpack: RAH Shockwave v1 Everything else: Comic Pack Shockblast https://www.flickr.com/photos/113336...4/13999905057/ 2) Night Force Shockwave(version 1) For the sake of accuracy, I wanted to make a custom Shockwave that would look more like the Night Force version. The ROC version was a good attempt, but I feel this one looks better. I know not too many of you like the Firefly from the Gunship, but I hope this can inspire some of you to give this one a shot. The Spytroops Gung-Ho cap was gray so this custom was really easy to do without any paint. Formula: Head: single pack Battle Armored COBRA Commander Cap: Spytroops Gung-Ho(which came with Zarana in a 2-pack) Vest: ROC Shockblast Rest: Firefly from the Gunship vehicle https://www.flickr.com/photos/113336...4/14186494524/ 3) Rise Of COBRA Shockwave(or Night Force Shockwave version 2) I didn't make any changes to this figure other than including some better accessories. Technically this isn't a custom but he is part of my custom army, lol. The colors are better on this version than the comic pack version, and the camouflage is cool. https://www.flickr.com/photos/113336...4/14186494324/ 4) Drug Elimination Force Shockwave(version 1) When I was a kid, I ended up collecting GI Joe later than some of you did. The Drug Elimination Force Shockwave was my first and favorite GI Joe figure, and it wasn't until later when I collected modern era figures that I could see there were a few vests that would work to make a custom out of that figure. One of them is the Resolute COBRA Trooper vest. Out of all of the customs, this one required the most modifications. First mod was on the vest, super-gluing a flashbang on top, second one was adding a holster on the middle to fit a pistol in, and the third one was gluing a side holster at his left leg to make him more accurate. Also, I could only think of a few heads that had the uniquely parted hair, and Agent Mouse's not only was perfect for that look, but it was one of the few big ones that could fit the original D.E.F. Shockwave helmet. Formula: Head: Agent Mouse Helmet and rifle: RAH Shockwave v3 Vest: Resolute COBRA Trooper(modified) Flashbang: 25th Scarlett Holster on vest: Greenshirt 5-pack webgear Side holster on left leg: ROC Elite Viper https://www.flickr.com/photos/113336...4/14163355396/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/113336...n/photostream/ 5) Drug Elimination Force Shockwave(version 2)/Riot gear Shockwave Before I sold my RAH collection a few years ago, I remembered that the 1991 Snake Eyes had the same light blue color scheme as the D.E.F. Shockwave. That sparked the idea to use the Wave 1 Dollar General Snake Eyes body to make an easier custom. Again, I found use for something from the Firefly that came with the Gunship---his vest. It's another one that looks accurate due to the pockets it has. The helmet was from a RAH Drop Zone, which I repainted to look more like a riot helmet. Note: I didn't take photos without the helmet because it wasn't necessary. It's the same head as the one I used in the previous D.E.F. custom. Formula: Head: Agent Mouse Helmet and visor: RAH Sky Patrol Drop Zone Vest: Firefly from the Gunship Rest: DG Wave 1 Snake Eyes https://www.flickr.com/photos/113336...4/14183927462/ 6) Convention/S.W.A.T. 3-pack version of Shockwave I've seen a lot of customs made of Shockwave, mainly as a homage to his RAH v1 and v2 figures, and even some for the D.E.F. version, but very few of the Convention/S.W.A.T. 3-pack version. The moment I got my hands on the green Dollar General Shipwreck body, I knew I could make this custom. This version is versatile because the color scheme can have him work in both jungle and urban scenarios. Formula: Head: single pack Battle Armored COBRA Commander Cap: Valor vs. Venom Gung-Ho Vest: Shockblast Rest: Dollar General Wave 2 Shipwreck(green) https://www.flickr.com/photos/113336...4/13999872088/ 7) Sigma Six Shockwave If Sigma Six didn't exist, I'd say the Convention version was the most underrated version of Shockwave in existence. It is indeed underrated, but I felt its main flaw was that he had blonde hair out of the blue(though I suppose if Sure Fire could get away with it, why not Shockwave...right?). The ROC Pit Commando vest, I felt, was best due to the shoulder pads. Formula: Head: Para-Viper Vest: ROC Pit Commando vest Rest: ROC Shockblast https://www.flickr.com/photos/113336...4/13999872398/ 8) "What-if" FSS Shockwave I think if Shockwave was released instead of Wide Scope, it would have been better. I can't help but think that every time I look at the FSS Wide Scope, that the weakness he has is that he does not have leg pads, and thus looks better as Shockwave. This is another custom that didn't require any paint, just a simple head swap. Formula: Head: single pack 25th Battle Armored COBRA Commander Rest: FSS Wide Scope https://www.flickr.com/photos/113336...4/14183927242/ 9) Night Watch Shockwave I figured since Hasbro's ME versions of Shockblast use the 25th COBRA Trooper body and arms, why not do something similar? I didn't like the legs, so I changed them for a pair of Dollar General wave 2 Snake Eyes legs. His color scheme can make him look like he's the new leader of Night Watch, or he can be used as an infiltrator, or he can just use this uniform for night ops with absolutely nothing to do with Night Watch, lol. Formula: Head: Comic Pack Shockblast Helmet: POC Shock Trooper Vest and belt: 25th Comic Pack Firefly(2-pack version that came with Storm Shadow) Rifle: 3-pack Retaliation Invasion Trooper Legs: Dollar General Wave 2 Snake Eyes https://www.flickr.com/photos/113336...4/14186496794/ 10) Resolute Comic Book Shockwave Alyosha made this custom version of Shockwave for me, though it originally had yellow and the original dark green camouflage from the Firefly that came in the Greenshirts 5-pack. I replaced those colors with gray, blue and a teal-gray, mainly to make him look more accurate towards how he looked in the comic as he's facing off against Destro. Aside from the 25th Shockblast, I think this figure may be the second closest to looking like the original RAH version, only without the yellow. Formula: Head: Beach-Head Cap: custom cast by Alyosha Vest: Shockblast Rest: Firefly from the Greenshirts 5-pack https://www.flickr.com/photos/113336...4/13999866590/ 11) Resolute Comic Book Shockwave(alternate uniform/version 2) In case Shockwave wants a slightly stealthier uniform, this is what he has. Originally the balaclava and vest were teal, but to separate this one from the other one, I repainted them black. Unlike the previous custom, the cap is not removable. Thanks to Alyosha once again I was able to make this. Formula; Head and cap: custom cast by Alyosha Vest: Shockblast Rest: Firefly from the Greenshirts 5-pack https://www.flickr.com/photos/113336...4/14206653973/ 12) Battleground Card uniform Shockwave I haven't played GI Joe Battleground, and probably never will. But I do like the card art on some of the characters, especially the one on Shockwave: http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2.../27/SWcard.jpg Using the POC Beach-Head vest added a layer of depth to give Shockwave more protection so that he can go out there and do what he does best: kicking down doors and taking names! Formula: Head and vest: POC Beach-Head Cap: Spytroops Gung-Ho Rest: Firefly from the Greenshirts 5-pack https://www.flickr.com/photos/113336...4/13999870768/ 13) City Strike Shockwave(version 1) I saw an auction on ebay for a "custom Shockwave" and I had to say it was simple but bad-ass. I no longer have the link to the auction but it was enough to inspire me to make my own. The only differences between this custom and the one from the auction are the head and vest(thanks to Raginspoon). Formula: Head: Para-Viper Cap: Shockblast Vest: custom cast by Raginspoon Rest: POC Shock Trooper https://www.flickr.com/photos/113336...4/14183221751/ 14) Pursuit of COBRA Shockwave(or City Strike/Night Watch Shockwave version 2) While normally I prefer Shockwave to have black eyebrows, I didn't mind them in this case. This custom was mostly made by Carnage717, with the head being the only thing I changed. This outfit could serve as either for City Strike or Night Watch. Unlike the other Shockwave customs that used the 25th Firefly mold, this one has painted knees to show the illusion of wearing mini knee pads. Formula: Head: POC Beach-Head Cap: Valor vs. Venom Gung-Ho Vest: Shockblast Rest: 25th Anniversary Firefly https://www.flickr.com/photos/113336...4/14163356746/ 15) Night Force Shockwave version 3 or 30th Anniversary style Shockwave This is another take on Night Force Shockwave, which was inspired by Nirvana7's 30th Anniversary style Shockwave: 30th Anniversary Style Shockwave By Nirvana7 - GI Joe News I had this one made by Hard-er Master. The brown eyebrows for the repainted POC Beach-Head's head sometimes bothers me, but I have an alternate head just in case to solve that. This custom doesn't just serve the purpose of being another Night Force custom...it can be used for many different environments, and is thus one of the most versatile. I really like how the knife sheath was added to the vest and the modified holsters to hold two pistols to help make him accurate towards the RAH versions. Formula: Heads: POC Beach-Head and 25th Anniversary single pack Beach-Head Cap: Shockblast Vest: custom cast by Raginspoon that was modified Legs: 30th Lifeline with modified holsters to fit two pistols https://www.flickr.com/photos/113336...4/13999873108/ (for original head) https://www.flickr.com/photos/113336...n/photostream/ (for alternate head) 16) IDW comic book Shockwave This custom was inspired by the fan art by ShockBlastWave shown here: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...shockwave.html It is based on the IDW comic book look for Shockwave, and I wanted him to look different from the rest, even though he uses some similar/familiar parts that the previous custom made by Hard-er Master(this one is also made by him btw). A specific request I made was to have a torso that could not only fit a Shockblast vest, but also fit a backpack. Not too many torsos can do that, but Shockblast's definitely could, and was used. Again I like how he has twin holsters on his legs. Due to the shoulderpads from the Resolute COBRA Trooper arms, I think he looks even more armored and ready for battle! Formula: Head: 25th Anniversary single pack Beach-Head Cap, torso, vest, and belt: Shockblast Legs: 30th Lifeline(modified) https://www.flickr.com/photos/113336...4/14183926662/ If you've made it this far, I hope you've enjoyed all of them. Since polls only have a limit of 10 choices, I would like for you to post in your replies which Shockwave(1-16) would best represent the "Ultimate Shockwave". Thanks!
