Little back story, I stop in Goodwill near my house to look for vehicles to get wheels and other parts from. My last trip they had this awesome Tonka Tow Truck. A fresh set of batteries even proved the electronics to still be functional. The body and stickers were rough, but it was Joe scale and I thought a tow truck could come in handy on my comic.
I forgot to take a pic of how it started but I stole a pic off ebay of one. It looked like this... I love Transformer/Joe crossover stuff so I set out to repaint the truck into Hoist.. here are the results. I did some dry brushing and some chalk pastel weathering then gave it a good clear coat. Overall I was pleased with the results. There were a couple spots that were messed up because I touched the paint on accident before it was dry and it wasn't worth going back and sanding it down to fix. Look for Hoist to make his "in disguise" appearance in the comic in the near future. At some point I need to buy some Autobot stickers for him. Last edited by matchmade; 01-20-2018 at 01:24 PM.. |

That's cool, I've noticed how some Tonka toys have real pitential.

Hasbro owns Tonka so there are a lot of Tonka toys they seem to make in Joe scale. My son's big yellow Tonka dump truck has a seat in it that fits Joes perfectly. Thought about finding another and painting it Constructicon Green & Purple.

I am a crossover fan as well and I think this is an awesome hoist. This bad boy needs some autobot tattoos. I feel bad for everyone in that cobra warehouse. They are in for a surprise

I've seen some of your amazing crossovers. Wish I had the talent and patience to pull something like that off. Thanks! |

Nice paint job. I have one of these wreckers that I am hoping to one day convert into MASK Wildcat. Still contemplating how to make that happen though.

My daughter also gave me a hard time about him not having tail lights. So, I painted tail lights put black outlines around the windows, painted the grill, mirrors and little handles black and added the additional weathering and mud my son wanted. So..updated pics..gonna call him done again, until the kids come home and point out some more things...lol.
