Hi Everyone,
I’m back with another model. This time we have KOMODO, a very loose homage to everyone’s favorite sidekick. Gone is the groveling simpleton of yesteryear. This time around, he's a hard nose-no nonsense professional with a killer physique to match. Even with just one good eye, this cold blooded critter is always on the lookout for an easy payoff. Worth his weight in gold and loyal to only one other, Komodo has long since proven himself to be a capable partner to the galaxy's number one acquisitions expert. KOMODO comes in two different sizes, one in 2.25 inches and another in 3 inches. The figures shown were printed in the FULL COLOR SANDSTONE material from Shapeways. No painting is needed on these full color prints. However, if you’d like to paint the model yourself, they’re available in White Strong Flexible Polished, Royal Blue Strong Flexible Polished or Frosted Ultra Detail, in addition to a few other materials. Please note that the toy robot pictured with KOMODO, is a custom Generations Scourge figure, with an add-on head I previously modeled called APEX. This custom was used only to show scale in relation to the two different sizes I have available for the figure. However, if you’re interested in something similar to the custom Scourge, Devcon will be available at this year’s Botcon convention and will be sold as a Hasbro/Funpub exclusive. Well, I guess that just about covers it. I hope you like the model. Questions and comments are always welcome. Brother this is a beautiful figure and the fact that it can print in color is just mind blowing, the technology for 3D printing really blows off the lid on possibilities for custom artists.I wish I had your 3D modeling skills. I can see the applications here for G.I. Joe. Like Fatal Fluffies or any weird monster/bio viper imaginable, Cobra-La creatures and plants as well as parts for zombies.
Limitless I tell you. Very cool man, I can't wait to see more work from you. |

That's incredible. I truly believe 3D printing will be instrumental in customizing once prices drop on high resolution printers. I think there is an interest in learning more about the process. We are having a conversion about future tutorials in the customizing discussion forum and several people are interested. As soon as I have some time off I want to write a basic tutorial on google sketch up. I only wish I was more versed in other more complex software like the one you are using for this.
As far as working on more joe oriented prints. I can't wait brother. at another site I saw one guy 3D print an entire action figure with full articulation. It was very impressive. Limitless possibilities. Keep rocking |
