I have updated my blog with the restauration of a large AT-TE purchased on a flee market last weekend.

ha, that's pretty clever! I bet that is actually twice as sturdy as the original! I have one I bought new, never really played with, but the middle leg doesn't stay in place :(
Yours is probably much safer to display!

In fact the legs are assembled to the body rather sturdily. In the first picture shown in the blog you can see four white plastic pieces on the table. In the 11th picture you can see one of them inserted in the hole for the middle leg. These pieces have threads. All legs are fixed by way of such pieces with threads.

They were all like that. A few months after they came out Hasbro made replacement legs. They are much sturdier. I called Hasbro and they mailed me a new set for free. It's been years so I don't know if they have any left, but it's worth looking into.
